CNN Asks 'How Ethical Is Your Easter Basket?'

Four days before the holiest time of the year for Christians, CNN.com actually asked, "How ethical is your Easter basket?"

This was the headline for the video of a CNN Newsroom segment Wednesday about child slaves being used to harvest cocoa in West Africa.

SUZANNE MALVEAUX, CNN ANCHOR: All right. So before you start buying the Easter chocolate this weekend, something you should consider, is it contributing to child slavery. Turns out that most of the world's cocoa fields are in West Africa. Hundreds of thousands of children are forced to work in those fields. David Mattingly takes us to one of the farms in Ivory Coast.

Lies! All lies! Only America is evil enough to have slaves!!! No way would an African keep a brother or his little children as slaves!!!

Thanks, CNN, after that report I just put another yummy un-PC chocolate bunny in the basket.

So, what’s the point of the story? Is CNN now going to donate all of its profits to this area of the world to make it better? Are they going to hire many out of work Americans to go to this area of the world and teach them a better way? No? Huh.

Then what is the point? To drum up an emotional cry for OUR GOVERNMENT to do something? And what exactly would they do? Give more of our tax money to this town’s leader so that he can place it into some offshore account and the town STILL doesn’t get any better? Perhaps military intervention that other segments of the LEFT can decry as baby killers?

Oh, come on Suzanne! They are just doing to work that Americans won't do. Isn't so bad when ILLEGAL Mexican children are picking lettuce in American farms.

How ethical was CNN toward Zimmerman? That’s the question CNN should be asking...

How many of them would starve if no-one ate chocolate. I don’t know about you but I’d rather work hard and eat than not work at all and starve.

I feel sorry for the children, B-U-T....we are not going to change their customs which they have had for generations. Just like we will never change the minds of the people in the Middle East. Who the hell are we to tell them to let women drive cars or let them wear Western clothes, vice a burka? What are we going to do to pressure them to change their whole culture to our ways.........quit buying oil from them????

They have no respect for women, so what do we do? ..... send over Hillary Clinton, Matalin Albright and Condelesa Rice to negociate with them !! No wonder they think we're heathens. I can imagine the shieks talking in their native language when they are in the same room: "Look, Abdul, that fat ass is the one who couldn't even give her husband a decent bj, so he had to get trashy whores to do him....." "And, that cow Albright is not only stupid, but as ugly as my camel." "The Rice chicky is probably a dyke....has no boobs and never been married...probably blend in with all my wives if she had her head under their black burka's."

they are going off to Easter Sunday services that has its theological basis in a political expediency of a long-dead Roman Emperor.

The theological basis is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

African Americans should kiss the ground they walk on (as should we all) that they are not in their sh*t-hole ancestral homes.

Keith Richburg, the black author of Out of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa (New York: Basic, 1997) expresses the same sentiment. Had their ancestors not been brought to the New World as slaves, the "reverends" Al and Jesse would probably today be living in tin shacks in the slums of Lomé, Porto Novo, or Bissau City.

Actually, a lot of cocoa production is moving to Brazil and Vietnam, because besides child labor, processors and traders don’t want to deal with the corruption, gangs, Jihad and violence of Ghana and Ivory Coast.

Little surprise that this article did not come out at Halloween?
But there is no slavery in the fall. Only in the late winter and early spring. /s

Oh Brother... here we go!
These people really have issues

Actually, they are a little bit nuts.

That is why they gravitated towards "liberal progressivism."

One of the most severe mentally ill nutjobs in that crew is currently the President.

Observing their actions from that point of view, most of what they say and do start to make sense.

The remainder of their statements and actions are apparently random as is seems to have no useful purpose either for them or anyone else.

Actually, that's kind of what the kids in the "report" looked like to me.

No, this one really is slavery. Children are lured from nearby Mali or sold by their parents to plantation owners. Since there is a nearly endless cheap supply of new slaves, conditions on the plantations are abysmal. Hershey's is starting to react -- after 10 years of giving lip service to the problem -- but if you're eating mass market chocolate you are supporting slavery.

This should be an issue for the right, which values individual dignity and freedom. The left values community and obedience to the state, so all we're getting from them is more ineffectual garbage and guilt trips.
