Yesterday, Sarah Palin emphasized in her interview with Matt Lauer that whoever becomes the GOP nominee should not play it safe in his selection of a vice presidential running mate. She declined to answer outright whether she thinks this years VP nominee should have more experience on the national stage than she did in 2008, but she did say she thinks the presidential nominee should go rogue with his pick.
Former GOP presidential nominee John McCain backed up those statements today with this:
On CBSs This Morning, McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, was asked whether he agreed with his former running mate that Romney should go rogue in picking a vice president.
I think it should be Sarah Palin, McCain answered, laughing. And while he did not backtrack from that statement, he did say that there was a wealth of talent in the GOP field, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Its an interesting proposition. Shes far more seasoned than she was in 2008, with a loyal fan base that would be incredibly energized by her presence on the ticket. But would she accept? She declined to run for the presidency herself, maintaining that she can have more influence as a media presence than as an actual candidate. If she worried she wouldnt have enough influence as the presidential nominee or the president, then she surely wouldnt be satisfied with the level of influence the vice presidential nomination offers, even if it was her launching pad to the fame she now enjoys.

Shut up RINO.
I think you have Romney confused with Obama. (I know; on many issues, it's easy to do.)
I like Sarah, but McCain shoud STFU. And retire while he is at it. But definitely STFU.
Might as well. Then, Willard would have a convenient scapegoat when/if they lose.
Nobody cares what you say.
She should have learned her lesson that a token VP Conservative on a loser RINO Candidate Ticket is not a good plan and will NOT gain Conservative votes. If she was the top-of-the-ticket, I could care less about the VP, but she wouldn't put a RINO there, herself.
That said, prepare for Obama for 4 more years, because the GOP-e has selected Romney-the-RINO, and he won't win in this lifetime.....he's Obama-lite.
Oh, NOW McCain begins to appreciate Sarah. Eff Off Queege, we don’t need your advice.
first sensible thing I’ve heard McCain say in years
The problem is that I do not think that even Palin can help Romney with the base. I can not vote for Romney and I am tired of the games the GOP plays with their base. When you ignore your own base for your own agenda at some point enough is enough and your voters walk.
Much as it burns me arse, I have to agree with Mclame here. Bigger question is why was he not more supportive of Sarah in 2008?
This guy’s brain is not on planet Earth.
Jindal would be by far the best choice, but he’ll never get it because he isn’t a part of the establishment and doesn’t aspire to be as evidenced by his endorsements.
Nominees don’t pick running mates who will overshadow them. There’s no way Palin will be picked.
It won’t work a second time.
Yeah, if she’d share a ticket with you she’d probably share a toothbrush with Mitt Romney.
But it won’t help him, and it might hurt her.
Come to think of it, McCain is probably mocking her. There’s bad blood between Palin and Romney people and he knows it.
They did it once, they'll do it again. Sarah is about as 'authentic' as it gets ..... I can't imagine her hooking her star to a fraud like Romney. She'll be stained with his RINO manure & it won't come off ... and of course, if Romney loses as he is likely to do, it would ALL be her fault. If she has any thought of ever running for president, she needs to stay clear of Romney. If Romney loses to Obummer, I'm for chucking the GOP-e's who keep nominating losers, can't run Congress, won't stand up to Obummer, etc. and going 3rd party with Sarah leading the troops. There will be time & there will be the anger/energy for a 3rd party if we get O for another 4 years .... the question is, will we have a country.
“Maybe Sarah Palin could convince Romney to change his mind on some things.”
Talk about an unnecessary job... Romney’s mind is like Chicago weather: if you don’t like it, wait 15 minutes and it will change.
