Most likely the legal department / risk management raised the alarm. If violence is ginned up by the media in an obvious deliberate and manipulative way, they may be free to do so under the first amendment, but I would think they would be open to potential civil lawsuits by parties harmed. Any lawyers care to comment?

They certainly did manipulate the tape. They just admitted it.

I hope Zimmerman becomes a rich man over this! It’s been horrendous and wonder how his head injury is - things show up later. He suffers pain and now torment because of the media’s deliberate deception to stir up the thugs for their agenda.

I’m not a lawyer, but I do know one must prove damages.

He hasn’t been charged, and may not be.

If charged he may not be convicted.

If he was charged and convicted, suing NBC is the least of his concerns, imo.

The news coverage might be a basis for appeal of the conviction, again in my non-lawyer opinion.
