There is NO background check to run for Congress! (There is no background investigation for any elective office!)
All you do is pay your registration fee, campaign and if you win that's your security vetting.

One of the things they tell you in a background investigation is, ‘anything illegal that is uncovered will be turned over to LE for prosecution’. You think any of our darling politicians would put themselves at that kind of risk?

The Vice Presidency is constitutionally a separate office, voted on by the electoral college separately from the Presidency. They only appear connected by political usage and traditional. Remember political parties have NO constitutional standing. They are private organizations not governmental, again they appear to quasigovernment because of traditional and usage.
Presidential secession is: VP, Speaker of the House, President Pro Temp of Senate then Secretary of State

How did Hillary Clinton come up with the FBI files on people in Congress? She had possession of them at the White House while living there.

Supposedly she picked the WH security director. (Whose only prior experience in security was a night club bouncer!) The WH Security Director has a responsibility for helping vet presidential appointments particularly those appointments who work directly in the WH. Supposedly she used this guy as a means to obtain raw FBI security investigation files. I have never bought into the idea that she got files on everybody in Congress the rest of the government and elsewhere. A few files of important political enemies well maybe believable.

So Bill Clinton knew! The entire Democratic party knew in 2008, but they did nothing but keep silent. Now everybody in the country knows, but those who can do something about it stand silent.

Well, Bill Clinton had an impressive body trail of his own and if he received a threat on his daughter, I'm sure he recognized the game going down and would hold his tongue. The dam is showing signs of cracking and we will eventually see the flood. I just hope America is still recognizable when that happens.
