Newt Gingrich unveiled a new message to Mitt Romney Monday morning during a campaign stop in Maryland: if the former Massachusetts governor does become the Republican nominee, pick a conservative platform.
But speaking on the eve of three primaries that could potentially seal the Republican nomination in Romneys favor, Gingrich vowed to only exit the race if a candidate gets the required delegates.
I will be going to Tampa, Callista and I will both be going to Tampa, because we are going to fight for a conservative platform, Gingrich said. He [Romney] has to win 1,144 uncontested delegates. At that point, the question is going to become, if he wants our support in the general election, lets talk about the platform and it better be a solid, 21st century conservative platform based on sound principles that we can stick to.
Gingrich, speaking to a couple of hundred people at a Ford dealership in western Maryland, noted that he took the recent Etch A Sketch comments from Romneys communication director very seriously and worried that clever consultants would hinder a platform conducive to more conservative Republicans.
The former House Speaker also argues the former governor is being awarded too many delegates from Florida, Arizona, and Idaho because the states are supposed to be proportional by RNC rules.
Campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond tells NBC News that the campaign has sent letters to those states' Republican Parties to correct the errors.
.........One topic Gingrich loves to talk about -- the court system in America -- came up Monday morning, as well.
Perhaps in an appeal to the Tea Party attendees in the audience with dont tread on me flags, Gingrich launched a new attack on Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg for her comments on the U.S. constitution.....

.....FREDERICK, Maryland After a week of laying off his rivals, GOP contender Newt Gingrich today tore into Mitt Romney, saying, You cant run a campaign with no principles, and vowing to go to Tampa to contest the nomination.
Gingrich showed no signs of quitting the race, arguing that Romney does not have close to the 1,144 delegates needed to secure the nomination and insisting there is still the possibility of an open convention in Tampa.
I cant tell you today how realistic it is that we will get to an open convention, and I cant tell you today with any certainty that I will be the nominee, Gingrich told a modest crowd in the showroom at a car dealership.
But I can tell you a couple of things. Despite six years of campaigning, $40 million dollars of his own money, millions raised from Wall Street largely from people who got our tax money from the bailout Governor Romney doesnt have it locked down. And we have no obligation to back off and concede anything until he does.....
This is a historic cultural fight for the very survival of American civilization, said Gingrich, adding that President Barack Obamas re-election would be a disaster for our children and grandchildren.
Gingrich, a former Speaker of the House, said that Obamas administration offers the most radical leadership in modern American history and that we need an administration which actually thinks religious liberty includes Christians and Jews.
The Speaker said his decision to join the GOP presidential field was influenced by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the Pledge of Allegiance cannot be recited in schools because the statement one national under God equals government endorsement of a religion therefore violating separation of state and church."....Source
...............[WI campaign director Robert]Lorge said that in conference calls with the national team there has been discussion about the possibility of consolidating Santorum and Gingrich delegates at the Republican National Convention in order to overcome Romneys delegate math.
I imagine theres going to be a lot of negotiation and compromising between the pro-Newt Gingrich and the pro-Rick Santorum delegates, he said. You may have a Newt Gingrich-Rick Santorum ticket. You may have a Rick Santorum-Newt Gingrich ticket. Nobody knows how that tickets going to work out. But I imagine itll end up being something like that.
Pointing to Gingrichs accomplishments in the House, Lorge believes delegates will see that his candidate is the only one with the experience necessary to be the White House.
America is a republic, Lorge said. Were not a democracy. We dont believe in mob rule. We hire people by electing them to represent us. Were a representative democracy, thats what we talk about. Our Founding Fathers were very wise in not having a straight, pure democracy. We have a republic for a reason so that wiser decisions, calm decisions can be made in the best interest of the nation as a whole and that is what Newt Gingrich is all about.
The amount of chaos and strategy that would be involved in the open convention scenario is so mentally demanding that its hard to imagine any other candidate but Newt Gingrich believing it is possible.”....

That is like trying to convince the Pope to give Scientology a try. There isn't a Conservative bone in Milts body. He just doesn't understand the concept in the least.
A conservative platform! Yes! That’s it! We all know that our esteemed R politicians observe the things the grassroots put in platforms...
I won’t vote for Romney, and I suspect that the only thing that could get him elected are gas prices.
The R establishment is forcing the most unelectable candidate on us.
Romney should keep pretending??
While Newt’s at it, I hope he fights for delegate reallocation rules to favor states which have actually voted GOP in presidential elections. Why does DC get to pick 19 delegates when they have less than 0% chance of voting GOP in the fall, whereas Delaware (which has at least a 10% chance of giving the GOP three electoral votes) only gets 17?
Sorry Newt, but it won’t make a bit of difference what platform Mitt runs on. He’ll still say and do anything he wants. You should know by now that an etch-a-sketch can always be erased.
One of Mitt’s many propaganda websites did say that the republican party has moved to join him in his 1994 support of gay rights, I suppose that means support for ENDA. If that is the case, the republican party has already left conservatives, but I would still hate to let him add that plank to the platform.
For Newt supporters, this is the moment. The moment for people with vision, for those born to the dig-down-deep, to go forth day after day with only faith and self-motivation to bind them. This is the hill to die on, to drill down and do it, no matter how impossible it seems, no matter how much it will cost. It's time to save a country in spite of itself...
GO NEWT!! Onto Tampa - Hang Tight - We Can Do This!
Newt Gingrich - for those born to the dig-down-deep..
the opposition research this fall won’t be as kind to flip romney, as his fellow conservatives, and Newt.
Yeppers, Romeny, ‘pretend’ to be conservative, til you get nominated etc, then ‘reset’...typical Obama move.
With making Romney their guy this time, I don’t think the GOP was really looking to worry about the conservative vote this time.
I believe their idea was to peel off democrats who no longer like Obama, independents, regular GOP voters that are moderate, and some conservatives that want Obama gone.
They know there will be some that won’t vote for Mitt, but they also know that it won’t be enough to matter a whole lot.
There has to be some method to the madness.
If you get to a contested convention, we may have a good chance of rejecting liberal democrat Romney.
Even Clinton is hoping for Romney(what does that say-that he
can be beat because of his flips flops of voting to promises that he would keep) If we end up with Romney, I think this is the last days for the republican party-who will follow them-really-look at the damage in which the rhinos are doing; just this year alone. Everyone has to face up to-that every politician goes to D.C,. becomes one of them/the problem. We need someone going there, who is Not one of them and does big things. Palin and Newt are the most disrespected by the party along with other conservatives ( Like Gov. Perry & Herman Cain)
Looks like a headache commercial.
I like the smiling Gingrich better.
Of course Mitt will pick a conservative platform to throw a bone to us. I don’t expect him to give it another thought though after the election.

I know. I like Newt smiling, too, very much. But I also like intense and menacing... for a change of pace...
I am still salivating at the idea of a Gingerich/Obama debate!!!
Visualizing “O” as a puddle on the floor is helping me get through all this other campaign BS!!
