Homicide investigator Chris Serino filed an affidavit stating that he did not believe Zimmerman’s account of the shooting. He recommended charging the 28-year-old with manslaughter, but was advised by Wolfinger’s office that there wasn’t enough evidence to secure a conviction.

I missed that story. It seems to contradict a statement released by the City of Sanford but perhaps they are two different things.

Google the guy's name: Chris Serino

I think the police are in a 'cover their a$$' mode.

The Sanford Police Department has a racially tinged past . Check out this video where Justin Collison, the son of a Sanford Police Lieutentant, was caught on camera beating a homeless black man.

And in 2005, two parking lot security guards, one the son of a Sanford police department veteran and the other a volunteer for the department, killed a black teen. Travares McGill was shot in the back. The guards asserted self-defense, and the case was dismissed.

It's odd that the Chief of Police and the State Attorney would leave their homes on a rainy Sunday night for the run-of-the-mill killing of a black teenager. Zimmerman and/or his dad must have friends in high places.
