As the Trayvon Martin controversy splinters into a debate about self-defense, a central question remains: Who was heard crying for help on a 911 call in the moments before the teen was shot?
A leading expert in the field of forensic voice identification sought to answer that question by analyzing the recordings for the Orlando Sentinel.
His result: It was not George Zimmerman who called for help.

Really? Do you know how much entry wounds tend to bleed?
If is is NOT Zimmerman, what would be the chances of actually getting a 48% match?
The software compared that audio to Zimmerman's voice. It returned a 48 percent match. Owen said to reach a positive match with audio of this quality, he'd expect higher than 90 percent.
Ok, if a actual match is better than 90% could we not reasonably expect an elimination by the inverse, that a "no match" example would be 10% or less?
And if an intentional "no match" 10% example was the inverse of a match 90% example how the heck do you get to 48%?
Given the other factors such as background noise, volume, cell signal altering the voice spectrogram, brevity of the part being identified (who screamed?) etc, I would think that would degrade the "no match" 10% example even further to near zero.
Not having an inverse elimination because one DID get a 48% match just might be strong evidence it IS Zimmerman.
One would need a unbiased, disinterested third party analysis and opinion to expect a reasonable analysis.
What we are being presented is a former employee of the >>>New York<<< Public Library, a hand pick of the >>>Chicago Tribune<<< and paid by >>>Martin's<<< family comparing a scant few seconds of high pitched scream to normal volume speech samples.
Nope, no potential for bias there, right?

He could easily have a butterfly on a head wound based on the grainy ABC video.
In public....
If they are up to date, they basically used medical superglue.
I don't know if a reasonable analysis could be done without recording of Martin screaming assuming there are even recordings of him speaking.
I shudder to think it but if this case is tried it's possible they will have Zimmerman reenact screaming, record it from the same distance of the 911 call it was in the distant background on, and compare.
What reports? Media reports? CNBC? WHAT reports? Several have asked, and now I’ve defended you, so pony up with ONE report.
The ‘experts’ will determine that it was whoever the Liberals want it to be screaming for help I’m afraid.
I was a Prosecutor in Fairfax County, VA for 25 years. Absolutely it would be prosecuted.
How often does a homicide happen in Sanford, FL? You don’t think that’s reason enough for top officials to show up?
Your conspiracy theory nonsense doesn’t fly around here without something resembling some back up. You have none. This is lame. We don’t like lame around here.
If it was out of the ordinary they showed up, it would be because the cops knew not arresting Zimmerman could be controversial because the person he shot in self defense was a black teenager.
So they call in the chief and prosecutor for cover who agree that no, the evidence is so overwhelming in Zimmerman's favor they are comfortable with no arrest, and they know there would never be a conviction on any charge.
How many dead children does Florida need? Seems to be no big deal.
Judge Jeanne Pirot rocks for a troll, that is.
“the chief of police went to the station personally for Zimmerman on a Sunday night”
Maybe the Chief of Police showed up to work because he had a homicide case to deal with. Wow. What information is there that because the case involved Zimmerman he decided to go to the station? On a Sunday night means nothing special. You show up to work when duty calls. Why would the Chief not consult with the state attorney?
I suspect the death of Trayvon Miller will likely save several children and adults from death. Probably dozens from muggings and maybe hundreds from buglaries.
The report is nothing but high-caliber BS. Period.
Fox News Radio is where I get my information in following this.
It is odd that the chief of police resigned and Norm Wolfinger removed himself from the case. It looks like they pulled strings for him because of his speacial dad.
And everyone with half a brain knows that in a potentially controversial case most officials understand it's best to take the cowardly way out (an arrest). Which suggests that they knew they would end up with an expensive prosecution that amounted to nothing, and thought the evidence was already so strong on the side of self defense they didn't have to take the cowardly way out.
>>If Martin had been on top of Zimmerman and shot in the chest at close range, Zimmermans clothes should have been covered with blood, which they were obviously not in the video.<<
Unless he was able to move him off for a second.
>>Also, the chief of police being present and the DA driving 50 miles to be at the station on for the occasion all smack of a coverup<<
Sorry, but today deaths don’t get covered up. Police shootings are investigated, even when there are other police or civilian witnesses and its clear (say, a hostage situation) that the officer was justified. Its much easier to take this at face value than it is to engineer a cover up when they may not know if any other residents than were interviewed actually witnessed the incident, or worse, video taped it.
Martin’s father told detectives that it wasn’t his son’s voice when a recording was played for him, according to this, anyhow:
I haven’t listened to the actual tapes, or followed the story very closely. But I did remember that I heard on Fox today that T. Martin’s father, at least at first, said it wasn’t his son. I would hate to be put in a position where you had to try to tell if it’s a loved one screaming on a recording. Just awful. A quick google search seemed to indicate that the family is now saying it was him I think.
