Earth Hour is tonight at 8:30 PM local time!
We have one of those electric quartz things and a kerosene heater. I had to look up “Mr. Heater.” Thanks for the education!
Well, it is rather unfortunate that earth hour coincides exactly with the time when I do my annual electrical stress test. I have a 400 amp service here and annually I have to test it to see that it can perform for a solid hour at peak. Even with every electrical appliance on, I have to bring in electrical resistance heaters to make sure that is fully loaded for the test (and if it is warm I just open the windows to avoid overheating).
Darn, “Civilization Hour” is on at the same time. Which to choose...
I have a 69 Dodge Polara with a 4 barrel 383, and an 83 Eldorado! Who can burn more fossil fuels that I? The Polara is 428 feet long, and 3 acres wide, it gets 10 miles to the gallon and that’s hi-test. Top that!
My GF plans to shop at the mall this afternoon. Meaning her car will be driven to at least 5 malls making her carbon footprint a lot bigger. Take that manbearpig!
will rewash the 3 loads I did earlier today, just to use a little more electric ok
Thanks for the reminder.
Tonight is Human Achievement Hour.
It’s time to light your house up, run the stove, etc., and celebrate and be thankful for all of the wonderful discoveries and inventions we use and love.
This has been advertised across Canada by Sun News. Love it!
Complete B.S.
electricity appreciation hour!!
electricity appreciation hour!!
The lighting in my house is powered by 100% pure, American, high-wattage, incandescent bulbs. (Except for a 300W halogen bulb in a Torchiere Lamp by my desk.)
At 8pm tonight I will turn all of them on in honor of Earth Hour. I will turn them off at 10pm.
You may wonder, since Earth Hour is an hour long, why I’m doing this for two hours. Simple, it’s just a little extra for Earth Hour.
Oh, and should one of the bulbs burn our during Earth Hour, worry not. I have a lifetime supply of bulbs stashed away.
I understand the urge to act in opposition to idiots, and I’ll support the various activities listed.
But for us, we’ll just ignore the idiots, and continue our normal lifestyle.
Your lists may want to join in!
“Don’t forget to turn ON all of your lights and appliances! Let’s show the world our celebration of life and abundance in the 21st Century!’
Wonder how many crimes will be committed in these darkened places.
Dont forget to turn ON all of your lights and appliances! Lets show the world our celebration of life and abundance in the 21st Century!”
I’m so glad for the reminder. I LOVE this day! My celebration this year might be able to rival my 2010 celebration:)
All of my unessential lights will be on!
All of my unnecessary lights will be on!
