he was not arrested but he was in handcuffs....???...when they put you in handcuffs isn't that like being arrested?

You have to have actual paperwork done to arrest/be charged with a crime. Anyone can be taken into custody for questioning. But taking into custody is not a legal arrest.

Remember..”You have the right to remain silent....” it precedes questioning leading up to an arrest. Right to have a lawyer when questioned.

Look at the news articles don't remember seeing him having a lawyer with him the five hours that he was questioned. His dad is a judge. He'd know his rights.
