Wrong. It's simply about gathering more information about the people involved, in order to get a better understanding of their personalities, and what may have transpired that night. It's also about the fact that the media originally created a narrative of Martin (supposedly having an unblemished school record, the constant showing of pictures of him from six years ago when he looked much younger and dressed differently), and much of that narrative now appears to be false.
We’ll remember that if something ever happens to you...just ignore the background/modus operandi of the individuals involved.
