It was never really “white flight” so much as it was business flight. Plenty of black businessmen got the hell out too.

My little town’s sole black man says his family lived in Detroit till the riots when his dad sold the bakery and they headed for Jackson where there were still factory jobs.

I used to peruse some of the “explore Detroit” websites. From what was still in some of the offices and factories, I wouldn’t doubt that some people didn’t even sell their businesses before they fled.
