Clement was fabulous today. His closing statement was quite formidable:

And its a very strange conception of federalism that says that we can simply give the States an offer that they cant refuse, and through the spending power which is premised on the notion that Congress can do more because its voluntary, we can force the States to do whatever we tell them to. That is a direct threat to our federalism."

That is a direct threat to our federalism.That is one of the worst features of this monstrosity. A state gets 100% of the money (borrowed from China etc.) at first. If the state refuses, local and national leftists use it as a political weapon against the state. Later, the cost to states increases. If the states don't pay up, the feds stop all payments, even for medical programs that existed before obamacare.
