Muslim woman applies for job at McDonalds wearing no headbag (hijab). She arrives at work the first day wearing a headbag which is prohibited. Soon she will have the litigation jihadists from CAIR filing a lawsuit against McDonalds on her behalf. The Muslim job applicant reported to CAIR-MI that she recently applied for employment at a McDonalds restaurant in Rochester Hills, Mich. During the interview, she alleges that one of the restaurant managers told her that wearing an Islamic headbag, or hijab, would be a problem. The applicant contacted the manager within a week after the interview to inquire about possible employment and was informed that someone else was selected for the position.
We urge McDonalds to take immediate action to bring its hiring policies into compliance with long-established legal guidelines on reasonable religious accommodation in the workplace, said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid.
He noted that in 2008, CAIR-MI raised concerns with threatened McDonalds regarding two similar incidents in which Muslim women alleged being denied employment because of hijab. Walid said Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 requires employers to reasonably accommodate the religious practices of an employee, unless doing so would create an undue hardship for the employer. (How about the hardship of losing customers because they dont want to be waited on by people who look like terrorists?)
CAIR has the cojones to pass out a booklet called An Employers Guide to Islamic Religious Practices to help corporate managers gain a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.New Religious Discrimination Manual Released
Install a lathe and make her work only that station.
So this particular woman must have worn one to the interview, or asked about it.
Or the guy hired her and mentioned the problem after she was on the job.
Your post is not logical.
That’s going to be/is already the ultimate outcome. I know a couple people that do not hire on that basis now. Applicants are not asked hardly any questions and NONE of ‘questionable’ nature.
“We have a TON of applications to go through considering all the people currently seeking employment so....”
In fact, they keep a backlog of applications for that very reason should courts ever become involved.
So once again, unintended consequences by the libs hurt people who are not even close to muslims. Fair? No not at all. But since the law favors the CAIR types, “...We’ll let you know” will rule the day. Thanks to the PC labor laws, employers have gotten a lot smarter about skirting the BS.
Nice try. employers are required to save all applications of all applicants. If you are found hiring people with lesser qualifications, you are in trouble.
I thought that if you don't hire people with lesser qualifications, you are in trouble, at least that's how Affirmative Action works.
No it is perfectly logical. You don’t know how to read words.
The woman interviewed without a hijab.
First day of work she wears one and is told they are prohibited.
When she then filed a lawsuit, she then ALLEGES that during the inteview the manager told her wearing a hijab would be a problem. In other words she LIES that such a thing was said in the interview, when it was not.
I guess I should give back all the hundreds of thousands of dollars I have earned as an editor, because it now seems to me that you have fabricated a completely new scenario that neither the original poster, the other freeper, nor I have envisioned. A straw scenario to prove the other freeper is logical and tell me I don’t know how to read. Oooo-kay.
You clearly cannot read. Everything I said is in the original post. Don’t bother replying, I won’t waste any more time with you.
Islamic women working at McDonalds? Sounds like a recipe for honor killing to me.
May as well think ahead: Coming soon they will be suing McD’s because they don’t serve food that is halal.
