Reporting from Washington
A day after President Obamas hushed remarks to a Russian leader sparked outrage from GOP circles, House Speaker John A. Boehner backed off the criticism, and suggested Mitt Romney should do the same, while the president is traveling abroad.
While the president's overseas, I think it's appropriate that -- that people not be critical of him or of our country, Boehner said Tuesday.
Obama was captured on a live microphone telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev he would have more flexibility to negotiate on a missile defense system in Europe after the fall elections. Leaders were gathered in Seoul for a nuclear security summit.
Romney called the presidents remarks troubling and alarming, during a CNN interview Monday evening, and the Republican presidential candidate accused Obama of telling us one thing and doing something else in talks over a missile defense system in Europe.
Other critics and GOP leaders latched on to the comments to question Obama's long-term commitment to the missile defense system, which the U.S. has promoted but the Russians have objected to.
Boehner had raised concerns Monday about Obamas comments, but on Tuesday declined to go further. He declined to agree with Romneys assertion that Russia was the U.S. number one geopolitical foe, and suggested tamping down the rhetoric while the president is representing the nation abroad. Well, clearly, the president is overseas, Boehner said.

How about the tumbsucking bedwetter stop critizing the US while acting as our President abroad???
Will you stop beating around the bush and tell us what you really think.
OK, what we should do is wait for Obozo to return to these shores. In the meantime, we can have spring training by beating the crap out of corrupt quislings like Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy who think only of lobbyists' cash to line their pockets, beating Tea Party Congress critters like Adam Kinzinger into line (not that he resisted) behind their corrupt spending schemes and all purpose spinelessness on nearly everything, and covering Obozo's backside with more debt limit increases for his election year allowance.
That will help us get in shape for the main event: disposing of Obozo in the event that we have a worthy nominee (however unlikely) or to elect worthy nominees to US Senate seats, House seats and other offices to prepare for more effective resistance. Not that I am angry or anything at Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy scheming the primary defeat of the best Congressman I'll ever have, Don Manzullo R-IL-16 (20 year Congressman), at the hands of Slimy Kinzinger who is 20-30% less conservative than Manzullo using the same type of massively financed advertising blitzkrieg (financed by the usual gang of suspects) that the Massachusetts Mushball is using to BUY the GOP POTUS nomination.
I am sooooo envious of each and every word. Good work.
You left out:
And your mother dresses you funny.
Yet, what has transpired in the House under the Republican Speaker is in sharp contrast to all our perceive hopes and aspirations. Speaker Boehner has proven himself to be the worst House Speaker in the history of this great nation. He has cowardly caved to this administration on all the important legislative acts and negotiations.
He has been remained passive and silent to the numerous breaches and usurpation of law by President Obama. Boehner provide Obamacare a major boost when he choose to fund the $100 million a year budget to implement the Obamacare programs.
Speaker Boehner supinely caved to Obama by offered up massive reductions in military funding. The President's own Secretary of Defense testified before Congress that the funding level would destroy the military and harm greatly our National Security. It would be a complete disaster. By negotiating massive reductions in military spending, an act that would never be expected of a Republican leader, Speaker Boehner betrayed to the core the trust of all military personnel. Worse, the Speaker has been silent on the Obama proposal to cut military pay, strength, and implement major increases in the cost of their military healthcare which was contractually promised to the military personal for a career of service.
Where was Speaker Boehner when President Obama ran over the Senate and made his unconstitutional recess appointments. The Speaker may not be in the Senate, but he could have voiced his displeasure.
On every major budget battle the Speaker has cut and run showing only his backside. Boehner is a Republican disaster leaving his party without a champion and a voice. Now, the President illustrates covertly that he will sell out America's interest to Russia with respect to Missile Defense and US Nuclear programs. Instead of forcefully responding to the betrayal of our President, Speaker Boehner runs to the podium to state that we need to be silent. Either Speaker Boehner is being Blackmailed by this administration or Boehner is thoroughly incompetent. In either case, the Representative of the House Speaker must replace him after the upcoming elections.
For all Americans who follow the law, pay taxes, work, and believe in the US Constitution, our point of the spear in Congress, House Speaker Boehner, has failed the American people totally!
Screw you, Boner.
Boner...stop sniveling for God’s sake.
Therrrrrrre ya go !
"You can act like a man! [slap] What's the matter with you? Is this how you turned out? A Hollywood finochio that, uh, cries like a woman? (He imitates Johnny's whining.) 'What can I do? What can I do?' What is that nonsense? Ridiculous."
too bad...so sad!
