When the left took a few bits of truth - that George had once been arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer, that George had a concealed carry permit, that he volunteered (or to use more inflammatory phrasing-took it upon himself) to perform neighborhood watch duties, that George had logged dozens of calls to the police, etc., etc., etc. - and used those factual snippets to craft an image of a hotheaded, racist, wannbe cop with an attitude, people here were justifiably outraged.
Now, the shoe is on the other foot. And while that may give everyone an understandably satisfying taste of schadenfreude, sinking to that same level, taking a few factual snippets - like suspension from school over a baggie with traces of weed and photos of him cultivating a tough guy image (on vanilla sites like Facebook and Twitter no less) - and using that to turn him into a hardened drug dealer hellbent on a life of violent crime is equally uncalled for.
None of my posts to you have suggested that I doubt that George felt his life was in danger and acted accordingly. But unless you were there and know without a single doubt that Martin NEVER caught a glimpse of the gun during their verbal exchange and NEVER thought that George might be reaching for it when he was, in fact, only reaching for his phone, your theory about what might have led to him punching George is no more or less valid than mine. We're both just speculating at the motives behind that punch.
Additional information may yet be released that gives one theory more factual weight than the other. (I mentioned the autopsy earlier because those usually include tests for alcohol and drugs and if Martin's indicates that he was drunk or high when this happened, that will have a huge impact.) As of right now though, I'm inclined to see this as a tragedy for everyone involved.
Seems Trayvon had a Twitter account and he was no angel:
