They can't have a civil trial unless they get a criminal trial. FL provides immunity to a person who justifiably uses deadly force.

If the authorities in Florida decide to charge Zimmerman on the evidence in hand, they are going to further undermine the public goodwill toward authority.

Not gonna happen here in Florida. Our self defense laws specifically prohibit any civil suits by the perps or their family against the person legally defending himself. This is why they're trying to get criminal charges against Zimmerman. It is also why the left wants to scrap our Stand Your Ground law.
