I'd be naive if I didn't think money played a part in this. I'd also be naive if I didn't think a lawyer told her - quite reasonably - that her best means of policing the junk that people will inevitably sell with Martin's name and likeness on it is to get the trademark. She still has to hunt them down, and they may not respond to a cease-and-desist letter, but I would have told her to get the trademark
We're going to see him exploited for money by third parties just as we've seen him exploited for political points.
