Previously, Jeff Zelenys biggest claim to fame was asking Barack Obama the hard-hitting question, What has
enchanted you the most from serving in this office? The question was so sycophantic that even Zelenys colleagues in the White House press corps laughed out loud when they heard it. The New York Times has Zeleny covering Rick Santorums campaign three years later, and suddenly Zelenys a lot less concerned about what enchants politicians
and less concerned about quoting them accurately, too. When Zeleny rewrote a statement from Santorum in a speech and then challenged him on it, Santorum got angry and a little PG-13, too:

Too early for martinis.
I agree with you. I also think Newt won WHEN he was passionate about the liar media. Now it’s like he’s reading a speech on how bad the media is. No passion. I want someone who is passionate about the wrongs in this world and Newt lost that a while back.
You have to admit, they have his number.......It will be entertaining in the coming weeks.
I don’t get the whole Rick bashing thing? At least he has not flip flopped like a fish out of water over multiple statements said in the past. Honestly, the bad blood against Santorums is getting pretty damn old.
On a side note, I was listening to Mark Levin’s show and I notice that Santorum and Gingrich have been the only two candidates on the show recently to elaborate on their campaign and the BS MSM comments against them. Where’s Romney? Is he still hiding under that rock he crawls out under when a Conservative calls him out? Do you really want a man like that as President that cannot answer the questions of the people of the United States?
LOL. So now you are advocating for the lying snakes at the NY Times be given respect by our candidates. No one but the effete snobs on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and the slugs in DC have any respect for that rag anymore. By and large everyone thinks it is a joke just for the reason Rick cited to this Obummer Hack. Good for Rick for not accepting their flawed premise.
Oh bull, Psycho. Newt, too, has a reputation of shooting his mouth off in public - and I would loved him to be the next prez. But I’m afraid that is sadly off the table.
I personally love salty language on occasion. Especially when used on girly-men journalists.
Good question. Levin was covering that last week. He said that there were a number of Right Wing talkers that behind the scenes have been miffed that Milt won't do their shows. Hannity is the only one who get him on for interviews and Sean is very mushy and always treats him with kid gloves.
I cannot trust a candidate that is so scared of his record that he will not do the rounds of talk radio shows. Even Trump did Levin when he was toying around with running.
What Santorum has done, is not even comparable
Guys, this is who Santorum is, you’ve been warned. He’s not a top tier player, never has been. This guy is milk toast, and a guaranteed loss by huge margins in Nov if he is the nominee.
What exactly about his rather restrained response to a lying reporter do you two find “unpresidential”? The man was angry; rightfully so, and communicated that fact and the reason for it very well. Do you think that presidents should not appear human?
Ding Ding Ding.. we have a winner.
Newt challenged the press like an adult, and makes them look the fool they often are quite handily. Santorum does not have the intellect, political skill or oratory ability to remotely handle a hostile press. He couldn’t handle the left painting him a radical in 06, never was able to handle it, and doesn’t have an answer for it now. He’s just not top tier material folks, he’s shown it time and time again, the folks in PA sent him packing by nearly 20 points for a reason.. you are foolish to think that happened because of fluke.
Rick Santorum has a chance to become President of the United States. Now that is true B.S. from the get-go. Second tier candidate that needs seasoning, has some upside. He needs to go home and win another local election to prove his last loss was a fluke. I don’t think it was.
Newt should not have changed from a passionate, agressive speaker. He’s boring and has no passion. He let the media and RNC intimidate him.
He says X about Romney.Romneys spinners twist this to Y and the MSM says .Z. Reading about the 1968 fight between McCarthy and Kennedy recently, I discovered that the same thing happened to Gene. Gene was an intellectual, but also Irish, and he did not take kindly to this either. He was so angry at the little thug—RFK, that he was not prepared at say nice things about Kennedy after Bobby was killed./P But he did NOt say the hateful things reported by the pressm which the press got second hand from Kennedy supporters—who perversely, believe it or not, blamed McCarthy for ginning up hatred for Bobby. Kennedys supporters then went hard left to McGovern, and the rest as they say is history. All because McCarthy had refused to step out of the way and let Bobby have a clear shot.
??? Romney has been working on this for six years and he still flubs.
Unfortunately, if he makes it to the end of April, that will be two months longer on top than Gingrich managed. Whatever you think about how Gingrich handled things, it didn’t seem to get him the support of the voters, whether they be the average GOP voter, the Tea Party supporters, or even the very conservative voters.
Something turned all the groups of voters against Newt Gingrich. I happen to believe that in the end, a candidate is responsible for getting voters to support them, and it is the candidate failure when it doesn’t happen. I know others want to blame circumstance, opposition, the media, lies, or other external factors, but in the end a candidate cannot control ANY of those things — only how they react to them, and in the end, that is what separates the winners from the losers.
If you could ALWAYS defeat the perfect candidate by a combination of negative ads, lies, and media help, no conservative would ever be elected.
Santorum may be a bad candidate, but he’s the bad candidate who managed, as a conservative, to win multiple states in February and March, and to remain within striking distance of Romney in the polls, and still polls even with Obama nationally. That makes him the bad candidate that matters, as opposed to the “perfect” candidate who can’t win anywhere but his home state.
Thank you Rick Santorum! The reason I like Newt is because he is unafraid of the press. Rick...go after those jacka**es! I can say I really dislike the press and I want someone who can stand up against them because they will NEVER say one bad thing about their boy...and I do mean boy, Obama!
Rah, Rah Romney tries to steer clear of offending the press. He’s such a wuss! Sorry but I cannot vote for him regardless of the outcome!
We don’t have to be warned about Newt Gingrich. He actually has shown that he is not going to win a nomination, much less the general election. This verifies what polls have consistantly shown, which is that Gingrich has failed to get people to like him enough to vote for him, and he consistantly polls double-digits behind Obama.
Now, we all “know” that this is all just a trick, that all the voters in our primaries are just voting against Newt because they are scared of him. Or something like that — I’m not sure how these strategies and tricks all work, just that if you don’t actually win primary elections, you are quite unlikely to end up being President.
As someone who has lived in PA since 1986, I can tell you , Santorum was not voted out on a fluke. In fact, polls today show if he were to be in a rematch right now, he’d still lose by nearly 10 points.
Folks who keep arguing Santorum lost by nearly 20 points because of X,Y or Z lining up against him are fools. Had he lost by 5 or 7 points I would give those arguments some weight, he didn’t he lost by 17Points.
Like Newt or not; he has the intellectual horsepower to push through the press and others.
Romney and Santorum do not.
Palin has the same skill; but in a different way. She has better instincts than all of them.
She can't policy in as much detail as Newt can; but she has Reagan's talent to know how to find the answers.
