Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.

In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

You omitted relevent points. Zim was a member of an informal neighborhood watch, he possessed a legal CCW and was in his own gated community and was attacked by the perp on the way back to his vehicle when attacked, NOT the other way around?

There were six kids tresspassping in our pool today. Going by the George Zimmerman standard operating procedures, I could have gone to the pool and shot at least one of them before the cops got here. Our cops are real slow cuz this is the border of two cities. I would claim self defense.

And if we apply your logic to the procedures the Police used to refrain from charging him, exactly what physical evidence and witness testimony would support your claim of self defense.

I don't see why not. Erratic driving on the association property, regardless of the cause, would be an improper use of the common areas. If the unit owner allows a tenant to behave in this manner it is no different than if the unit owner himself behaved in that manner.

The fact that the unit owner is not responsible for the criminal act does not protect him from civil responsibility, under his contract with the other owners, to use his title to the property in order to accomplish the goals of the association; HIS association.

CORRECTION: George Zimmerman WAS arrested! He was taken to the Police Station by force, in HANDCUFFS. He was RELEASED when the police realized they had no basis to hold him!
