I’m in agreement that Martin should not have done it, but don’t believe most of us would have done any differently under the circumstances. If it had been many of the Freepers being followed, Zimmerman might have eaten a bullet, due to his stupidity.

Here is where I think you are wrong.

If I am being followed at night, my first thought is robbery, and my attention focuses on escape. Even when I am armed, I want to avoid any confrontation and just escape from the follower. Even when I was in my teens this was my thinking.

Trayvon was less the 100 yards from his house, and had lost his follower in the darkness. In any event, he knew he could outrun any tubby short guy.

So does Trayvon run home and elude his pursuer? No, in fact from the timeline I have seen, where Zimmerman lost him for 5 minutes while he was less than 100 yards from his house, it appears that he circled back and lay in wait for Zimmerman to return to his car.

My money is on the scenario that Zimmerman had committed no crime right up until the moment that Trayvon hit him with a punch. Zimmerman went down and Trayvon started beating him while he was on the ground.

When and if we ever see the autopsy results they will show that Trayvon had Zimmerman's blood on his hands from punching him, that his hands show bruises consistent with hitting another man, and that there are powder burns on one hand, maybe both, resulting from fighting for control of the pistol right before he got shot.

At no time did Zimmerman commit a crime, but Trayvon assaulted him, Zimmerman defended himself, and Trayvon got shot while committing a crime.

The fact that could have run home, is a relevant point. That is true, he could have.

At which point, if Zimmerman had entered the home, Martin could then have freely kicked the snot out of Zimmerman, without consequence.

That is the sort of relevant point I was looking for that does make a difference. Everything else, including Martin’s conduct at his home town, in his high school, is largely irrelevant to the case.

I hope the court case will use as much evidence as possible and the proper conclusions will be drawn.

He also could have knocked on any nearby door or hung up the phone and called his dad or the cops.
