As Dick Cheney recovers from heart transplant surgery, questions are being raised about whether the former vice president is too old for a new heart.
Cheney, 71, who received the new heart Saturday at a hospital in Falls Church, Va., has been on the cardiac transplant list for more than 20 months.
Some medical centers will not perform a heart transplant on patient over 65, but other major centers will perform transplants on patients who are as old as 72.

I second your wish for Mr. Cheney to have many more happy years.
Now that he’s got a new ticker, he should invite Harry Reid on a hunting trip (LOL).
And let’s not forget about David Crosby of Crosby, Stills & Nash, whose lifestyle completely destroyed his liver and he got a new one. Where was the outcry on that?
LOL! Hang in there, life is much easier with a mentor or two around. God Bless..
A favorite pic of mine. A true class act who represented us in stellar fashion.

Oh yeah, David Crosby, that definitely counts.
Of course he is too old. With the money they could have saved letting him die, Sandra Phluck and her coed friends could get free birth control and still have money left for Starbucks.
OMG...now that is funny. If we get Obamacare, that would definitely be too old. It’s called “return on investment.”
My guess is that Cheney has known for a long time that a heart transplant was inevitable, if available and that if there was an age limit, he would have been put on the list sooner.
I did a little research and the heart pump that Cheney had inserted in 2010, only helps for two years.
Except 71 isn’t elderly. (At least not these days).
I doubt very many people remember or even know that Dick and Lynn Cheney have given away tens of millions to charity (77% of their income in 2005 alone) including virtually all of his Haliburton compensation that was held in blind trust after his election to VP, and her book royalties, too, to 3 charities they designated in 2001, including GWU cardiothoracic center
Nevertheless, even though donating millions to the hospital, and unlike Jobs, he waited 2 years for a transplant
Just a blast from the past to counter all the blind hatred the libs will spew about the Cheneys “not having a heart”

(compare the VP Biden and VP Gore charitable donations)
Of course he’s too old!
Let him croak! (sarcasm)
I bet the Libs know that but want to make it look as though he was given preferential treatment.
Cheney seems to old but he's also been studied very carefully, his health is meticulously documented and he's been on the heart pump precisely to see how good it is as a stop gap to a heart transplant. His case is advancing medicine.
That is what I said! gmta
^5!
Steve Jobs actually jumped the transplant queue and there was NO (0) (nada) complaint from the libbies because -- because Steve Jobs designed their iPhone?
Cheney/Palin 2012?
Yep 2008 dream team Cheney Rumsfeld
Always loved that picture of my beloved V.P. LOL!
