They got the meme going, the resentment planted. Facts are irrelevant, but timing is. They will 'remember' this when the timing is closer to the elections so DuhWon can have his Reichstag moment, and use it to help fan the flames of civil unrest...when the time is right.
Now, the issue would be resolved too soon, and the resentment would work against them afterwards.

The damage is done. The people who are upset - are irrational. They already assume they are the “poor victims of all this evil whitey gonna shoot them in the street” - quite literally.
The fact that there are only 400 White v Black murders per year - INCLUDING all criminal element and drugs - is meaningless to them.
