Really? I haven’t been following this all that close so I have missed a good deal of information on this.
I thought Zimmerman followed and shot the guy.
I hadn’t heard he tried to leave and was assaulted.
According to the news reports, and 911 tapes, Martin wound up beating Zimmerman fairly badly. That injury to the back of the head is going to be golden for Zimmerman.
That can be shown to be serious physical injury or attempt and that may very well justify the deadly force usage all by it’s self, without any of the other factors such as age, size and athletic capability, as well as the readiness and willingness of others to assist Zimmerman as he repeatedly called for assistance.
What we should remember here too is that some of the 911 callers said this happened in their back yard. Backyard, where no one but you is supposed to be. So, in effect, Martin was trespassing on someone’s property and could have been legitimitally challenged by Zimmerman on what he was doing.
