When police officers arrived, Martin was lifeless, face down on the ground, while Zimmerman was bleeding from his head and his back was covered in grass, as if he had been on the ground, the police report said.

A man who witnessed part of the altercation contacted authorities.

If you watch the video report at the MyFoxOrlando link in your comment, you can see that the eyewitness to the incident had a clear view from about twenty feet away. He would have been the closest possible resident to the incident.

The fight and shooting took place on a walkway between the backs of two parallel rows of townhouses. The area was clear of obstructions.
