The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

Exactly when in the recording did he say it? I’ve listened several times and hear no such thing.
I don't think his fact checkers have studied this particular case well enough to have Beck on one side of the other, but his initial response was to hang Zimmerman.

Count me in also. I listened carefully and clearly heard ‘coons’, not ‘punks’. I’d add that that alone convicts him of nothing. If he was being pummeled and genuinely feared for his life, I’d say he did the right thing.

The evil perfidy of the MSM was never more blatent in that case. Sure, as you may agree, it all look pretty violent. The scene was played and replayed what must be hundreds of times. Again and again. The riots saw about 54 people die and whole neighbourhoods gutted. As for the white truck driver, Reginald Denny, whose head was used as a football by a black man, this during the King protests. The video was shown only sparingly. He suffered brain damage.
I have seen mention on FR of an elderly couple, just very recently. The man just released from hospital after a home invasion by blacks. His wife in her eighties was killed. A 21 year old black man charged. I picked up this little riposte on FR for other instances of media blackout.

I guess people will continue to hear what they want to hear....or what they’re told to hear. Shame, really.
The point is that there isn't any law of physics which requires cops to always come down four-square on the side of the village idiot. We have a clown like this Zimmerman in my own neighborhood and I or some neighbor could just as easily end up getting killed over it.
