When I put on my hoodie, I feel like I've got "cover" to commit a crime! But this is South Florida—where this past winter—I needed a hoodie only one morning.

I think the "hoodie" plays a bigger role in this very unfortunate event than people may think, right or wrong. A person of any color wearing a "hoodie" when it's hot out, and perhaps also pants down around his knees? I know that any youth I see dressed like that gets extra scrutiny from me. It may not be right that it makes me think that way, but I don't mind saying it does.

I don't blame you one bit. Vigilance requires such behavior. I'd rather be a "racist" than a victim.

The event was February 26, in the evening ~ 64 degrees, extensive rain ~ hoodies in fashion I suppose. I see guys wearing them around here when it rains.

“I think the “hoodie” plays a bigger role in this very unfortunate event..”

I don’t own a hoody, but given that it was raining and he had a cell phone earpiece on, I think that it was reasonable for the kid to have the hood on. Not that it matters.
