time for Newt & Rick to exit so we can focus on the task at hand. The sooner the better.

The task at hand? Perhaps. But voting for either Romney or Obama will not be the task at hand for me.
With Romney and Obama as the nominees, social conservatives have nowhere to go. I will not vote for either. The biggest enemies of social conservatives are liberal Republicans. I will not continue to support my enemy. (And make no mistake about it: Liberal Republicans are the enemy of social conservatives.)
They want our votes but not our values. As for me, they will not longer have my votes either.

Excuse me, but why should Newt exit? He cleared the field, leaving it all to Santorum. Santorum campaigned his heart out and just got his clock cleaned. Obviously, it’s time for Santorum to exit, and let Newt have a clear field in Louisiana.

Yep, let’s let Massachusetts, Puerto Rico and Illinois pick the Republican candidate.

Nope. Romney's feet have to be kept to the fire. If he is coronated, he will scoot to his Massachusetts liberal safe zone. We have to make him say conservative things so that we can call him on his lies should he happen to become president, which he would do without my vote.
Scorched earth has a price.

He needs the practice and it's worth whatever millions he's spending on it. He did show some improvement in the debates, if you like seeing Republicans get walloped on with half-truths before a live studio audience. I'm sure none of us would mind if he took that tone with Obama. But all indications are Romney would run a "respectful" campaign against Obama and spend half his time complimenting Obama, just like McPain. He's also like McPain in that McPain absolutely savaged his conservative Republican primary opponent J.D. Hayworth. Liberal Republicans are only nice and respectful to fellow liberals, not to the conservatives they can't stand.
