I used to enjoy listening to Paul Harvey when i was growing up and into my adulthood.

Me too. I miss hearing him on the radio. I thought Fred Thompson had taken over for him, but I never hear the segment anymore even on the conservative channels.

Paul Harvey was a franchise squandered. And a new voice wouldn’t have had to work quite as hard as Paul did to assume the mantle.

I met Harvey back in the 70s and he said his day started at 4:30 in the morning at his Chicago office where he would re-write the Chicago papers.

He usually did two morning shows and a quarter hour noon broadcast. Almost all the shows were written, produced and in the can by 10 AM.

Material was added by a couple of editors who polished stories from other US and a few foreign papers that were mailed in.

I don’t think Harvey never had a scoop of his own.
