Televangelist preacher Jamal Bryant vowed to “shut down Florida” at a rally on Wednesday to demand justice for slain Miami-Dade teen Trayvon Martin.
“This is a wake-up call for the state of Florida!” Bryant said. “We are going to shut Florida down until justice weighs down!”
The Baltimore preacher and leader of the Empowerment Movement spoke at a rally at the Allen Chapel in Sanford in response to the Feb. 26 killing of the Michael Krop Senior High school student.
Black leaders are vowing to bring at least 1,000 protesters from around the country to a March 26 city council meeting if charges are not filed in the case. The protesters, he said, should bring bags of Skittles like the candy Trayvon carried when he was gunned down after a fight with a stranger.
Trayvon was visiting his father and his father’s girlfriend in a gated community when the homeowner’s association neighborhood watch volunteer spotted him and thought he looked suspicious. The two tussled and guard George Zimmerman opened fire, killing the unarmed boy.
Zimmerman claimed self defense and has not been arrested. The case was referred this week to the state attorney’s office in Sanford for review. Police Chief Bill Lee said there was no probable cause for an arrest.
Because the boy is black and Zimmerman is widely believed to be white, the teen’s family and many activists believe Trayvon was racially profiled. However, Zimmerman is Hispanic.

The only witnesses to Zimmerman's actions were Zimmerman and the kid. The kid is dead. How do you know what you claim to know about Zimmerman's actions?
I don’t know if Zimmerman did that, but how likely was it that a black honours student, three houses from his house is casing gated communities with the intent of B&E?

Interesting. Pretty much all reports have said that Zimmerman called police when he first saw the kid, before he made any contact. Now we are to believe that Zimmerman was on the phone during the shooting which occurred after a "fight". I wonder if and how Mr. Zimmerman managed to stay on the phone while he was fighting. Maybe he called back?
What does that have to do with anything?
Zimmerman's defense for shooting the kid (if he has one) will be based on the kid having attacked him.
B&E doesn't enter into it.
I don’t know, but I do know that the cops would have any background information on the kid and the security guard.
Unless the kid was in serious trouble back home, it’s unlikely he was up to no good here, as people tend to live their life in very distinct patterns.
I also know that the number one occupation of failed cops is security guard, so it will be interesting if any information comes to light on that.

First of all, I am a Southern redneck "Biblical literalist." I have defended Southern Fundamentalists on this forum for over a decade. Just yesterday I unloaded quite a rant on a thread in which a certain group of our so-called "fellow conservatives" were squawking about "bigotry" and "know nothings," so don't you start with me.
My point was intended to be ironic: when rural Southern whites do it, they're "gap-toothed snake-handling West Virginia hillbillies;" when Blacks do it they're "authentic representatives of a beautiful non-Western culture." And my point, the hypocrisy of liberals who laugh at one and swoon at the other, stands.
I'm in no mood to be misunderstood right now.

Pointing, yes. Waving, no. You keep dishonestly using the word "waving" for a reason. I keep pointing out your dishonesty for a reason as well.

That would be part of what I’m saying. Kids who are typically non-violent don’t come out swinging. So unless the kid can be shown to have violent tendencies, I’m inclined to think the guard is lying.
But we’ll see how it goes down in court.
i have no proof, but it sounds to me like Zimmerman might have grabbed the kid, the kid fought back and so Z shot him. That’s not self defense. He had a bloody nose, the kid didn’t beat him to a bloody pulp. I could be wrong, but I still think Z ought to be arrested,
why was he suspended from school if he’s an ‘honors student’?
Zimmerman, who was in his car, slowly following Martin, who was on foot. When Martin went down a walkway between two rows of buildings, Zimmerman told the 911 operator that he was not going to let one of these ***holes get away again. He was told to wait for police, instead he left his car to pursue Martin.
At best, brandishing, ar worst, a Charles Bronson wannabe.

Maybe you would see less anti-white bigotry if you stopped contributing to it.
The guard will only need to testify convincingly that the kid attacked him. The burden of proof is on the prosecution. Zimmerman has no obligation to prove that his assailant attacked other people previously.
