Three reported tornadoes tore through southeastern Michigan Thursday, destroying 13 homes and leaving 105 houses significantly damaged, while downing power lines, sparking fires and flooding streets in Dexter, Mich. Sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson said there were no reports of serious injuries or fatalities.
A tornado touchdown was reported in Dexter and the surrounding area northwest of Ann Arbor, Michigan Thursday night, according to Marc Breckenridge, director of Emergency Management for Washtenaw County. The National Weather Service said a "significant'' tornado touched down in Washtenaw County at about 5:15 p.m., and there were over 200 reports of severe weather Thursday from Tennessee through Michigan.

Still waiting to hear from many Michigan Freepers in that area. I know the power was still out in much of northern Washtenaw county.

The storms were just starting to form here so we got thunder lightning and rain. We didn’t even have much wind here. I’m about 20 miles southwest of where the bad stuff was.

It appears that the bulk of our Michigan FReepers are over that way.

My tornado/foul weather self-help bag includes: flashlight, extra batteries, extra eye glasses, first aid kit, issue pancho/half-tent, parachute cord, water, lighter, 3 MREs, ham radio handi-talki, Leatherman, shot record, list of emergency telephone numbers and other assorted useful stuff.
Prayers up for those affected. It SUCKS to walk outside after a storm and see massive damage from winds.

Glad you're OK. Can't say I recall a tornado in Michigan.

We're in Livingston county, south of Howell. We caught the northern part of the storm, it was really going with strong thunder. When the sirens went off I think my heart stopped for a moment. I'm really glad no-one was killed.

That was a nasty storm! Here's the radar signature - notice the pronounced hook echo, like something you'd see in the Plains:
Should be an interesting Spring!

I dodged a bullet here. The sirens were going crazy and I got some hail, but didn't see a funnel cloud or hear a freight train. I'm almost due east of Dexter and got a little nervous hearing the words "Tornado Warning. Touchdown in Dexter." I heard there was another funnel cloud near Dominos Farms just SE of me.

Black sky north and east. Lightning was impressive! Tornado sirens sounded three times here. Shades of Palm Sunday 1965—it just felt like it all day. WAY too close.

I'm in the bottom left corner of the map in Norvell, Dexter is in the top right corner.

When I lived in Michigan we were good for about three close calls per year with tornadoes.
To: Darksheare; cripplecreek
We lived right outside of Dexter for some twenty plus years, lots of friends still do. The good news is no one is hurt. The area has been without power, water, etc., much like N’warlins was. Strange, no looting, raping or violence there........

my area was under a warning but just got lots of thunder, hate lightening so I don't know if there was any of that.(I didn't look and kept my shades down) Thunder used to make my dog nervous, but since she has gone deaf, she slept through the storm...satellite was only out for about 15 minutes.
