Sources close to the Gingrich campaign say preliminary "what-if" conversations are underway that could lead to a Gingrich-Perry ticket being announced prior to the Republican National Convention at the end of August.
Gingrich aides hope forming a predetermined ticket with Perry will unite the evangelical, Tea Party and very conservative voters that make up the core of the GOP.
As discussions got underway, two senior aides to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who dropped out of the race and endorsed Gingrich, had not heard of the potential ticket and seemed dismissive. One noted that in the past, Perry has likened the Vice Presidency to a bucket of warm spit. Still, Gov. Perry volunteered his services when he endorsed Gingrich in South Carolina, so he may be on board if it's little more than a joy ride in a trial balloon.

It did come too late. Just look at the sheer number of conservatives here that yearn for an all-encompassing federal nanny-state.
When our own side finds nothing wrong with government control over all aspects of our lives... we are already doomed.
Face it, individualists in America are an extreme minority.
At best, we could try to gather in one area and declare independence (Maybe Texas). But that’s about it.
The rest of the sheep will live contented lives completely controlled by their shepard.

In fact, I`m talking to a someone on another thread about the same thing. They don`t understand that the Romney way only gets you to the same place as the Obama way more slowly. They don`t understand that the difference is only in degree. It`s just a smaller step in the wrong direction.
