So a member if of the US Senate is trying to remove him from a single radio station. But they are not putting under house arrest, or anything else that other countries do against someone expressing views that the government disagrees with. He’s not going to jail. So some rep has started a petition. That rep is not exersizing legal authority to remove him from the air. They don’t like what he’s saying, so they are trying to get the public on their side. They’ve never liked him. But they are not using their authority as elected officials to do anything about it. It’s like if Gingrich started a petitian to get Randi Rhoads or Bill Mahr off the air. No legal authority. Just his fame.
I would disagree with your analysis in a respectful fashion. When members of Congress are trying to shut down someone like Rush it is clearly a First Amendment rights issue. They aren’t doing it as private citizens they are doing it as representatives of the government.
