NORFOLK, Va. (AP) When the makers of "Top Gun" were filming on board the USS Enterprise, they donated a set of black fuzzy dice to liven up the ship's otherwise drab interior.
A quarter-century later, the dice will still be dangling inside the tower of "the Big E" as the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier sets sail on its final voyage Sunday...

The other obvious problem with USAF bombers on a carrier is lack of folding wings, and inability to take them below..
Sounds like they just wanted to see if it could be done..and then forgot about it..
I have NO idea why I’m having trouble posting li nks from YouTube..but just came across another gem..It’s a 7 minute vid of the A-5 Vigilante..doing carrier take offs and landings..we were discussing the Viggie a few days ago..just type “A-5 Vigilante” rare videos in YouTube search..
Thanks for the headzup, Ken. I’ll checkem out.
Because the it was launched full afterburner, a night Vigi launch was a thing of beauty and a joy to behold!
I really don’t know why it was more spectacular than a night launch of the F-4, which also launched in full burner, but it was.
One other nifty “thing” the Vigi could do was called “dump burn.” The Vigi fuel dump mast was between the engines, so the pilot could dump fuel and then light it with the afterburners. THAT was a spectacular sight, especially at night!
I just do not know. Keep trying.
The reactors would present an issue. Even after they're pulled out, somebody will be worried about residual radiation.
See my post #94.
To mock Obama is to mock the Left itself. They will never tolerate it as long as they have power.
Then, it is up to us to take them out of power, and keep them out of power.
If we do not; if we fail, I fear for our Republic.
