Then why didnt GE and Phillips apply to make rough service bulbs?That's a good question. I can only imagine that their profit margins didn't meet corporate goals. So, the little upstart guy steps in and tries to make a go of it.

Then why didnt GE You're joking about this, right? GE is a division of the department of energy.
Jeffery Immelt is on the president's board of domestic jobs, while he's busy exporting as many of GE's divisions to China as possible.
