This situation reminds me of the Hungarian Revolt/Revolution that took place in 1956. President Eisenhower was criticized for not getting the United States involved in that war.

Could his decision have been influenced by his recent memories of the battles of WWII? He was commander in Europe during the D-Day invasion. The loss of life there was beyond belief.

Uh, how does this situation with Panetta remind you of that, “the Hungarian Revolt/Revolution that took place in 1956”?

Do you see some connection the rest of us miss?
