WASHINGTON, March 9 (LID) A key to keeping American youths from starting to smoke cigarettes is increasing excise taxes on tobacco products, the U.S. Surgeon Generals Office said in a new report.

BS. You can’t believe anything that anyone in THIS regime says.
Just like marijuana and other drugs being illegal keeps kids from indulging. BS
nah they either will get more allowance or steal more from the folks
When cigarettes cost more than pot, then I’d have to concur that it’s working.
Really. Would they admit it if raising taxes didn't work?
No way! Taxing something stifles it. Does this work with other things too?
Huh???Just last night, our local TV news reported that teen smoking is at an all-time high with 1 out of 4 teens beginning to smoke before age 18.
Looks like the Sturgeon General, one of the most useless posts in our useless government, didn’t get that report yet.
The report from the Schools Health Education Unit shows trends in young people's attitudes to smoking between 1983 and 2001.
The findings reveal that 40 per cent of 12 to 13-year-olds admitted they had tried cigarettes in 2001. This rose to 60 per cent among 14 to 15-year-olds.
That compares to 30 per cent of 12 to 13-year-olds in 1990 and 57 per cent of 14 to 15- year-olds.

Funny, cigs are taxed much more than they were in the past. Perhaps things like this contribute...
Teen Mom reality star Jenelle
or how about current Milan runway fashion?

Or Lindsy Lohan, Miley Cirus, Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears..on and on... They want to tax out of greed and they blame the tobacoo companies and fail to shake a finger at Hollywood and fashion. It is about more money, not --'for the children'
Does the Surgeon General still wear the Captain Kangaroo outfit. It is so fitting.
Nice. Thanks!
They tax cigarettes and any teen in high school can buy marijuana.
Maybe they should tax marijuana too.
In football terms, she’d be considered a “run stopper”
Of course you’ll NEVER see any comment from the media about her fat @ss lecturing us how to be healthy.
It is hard to take the Surgeon General seriously because she doesn’t look all that healthy— she is over weight. Nice manicure, though.
Outlawing tobacco will help much more.(/sarcasm... sort of)
when the government uses its power of taxation to regulate a free society’s behavior, there are MAJOR problems involved!!!
