Now that’s funny!

I’d pay $50 to see Mitt dance to Rocky Top in bare feet!

We’ll see if he asks for Swiss cheese on his Philly cheesesteak when he gets to Pennsylvania.

Romney tries to sell himself as an 'unofficial Southerner' as he struggles in the South

There's a term for that--carpet bagger. Hey Mitty, that look on the locals' faces says, "y'ain't from 'round here, is ya?" They can spot a carpet bagger 10 miles away. They have lots of experience. It's the scalawags that are sucking up to you.

I’m not from the south but when I have visited I have never been anything other than myself. I don’t think anyone likes being patronized in any regard. Now I do think if you begin to spend time in a place you will begin to adopt speech patterns but a touring pol just reveals how false he can be.

I can't find green peanuts here in Texas and it costs a bloody fortune to order them online. I don't like the canned ones and boiling up some raw peanuts just isn't as good.

Barbara Mandrell -- I Was Country (When Country Wasn't Cool)

Peanuts in my coke--in the south everything is a Coke. The mister has to ask what type of coke I want---a Dr Pepper coke or a Coke-coke? :p

I'll take one of those RC's with peanuts, please.

They used to sell boiled peanuts in a can here at the brookshires.

They were cheap too.
I havent seen them in a while.

Why not make your own? All you need is raw peanuts in the shell, salt and water.

I still like roasted better. :)

When I lived in Brady (mom’s hometown) there was a peanut rendering plant, and you could always get good boiled peanuts. That’s where I learned the RC Cola trick - Mom and Dad are born and bred Central Texans, but I grew up in the Air Force and was a little late to the party.

What’s piss-chunk? It was his opinion of watermelon hahaha!. He always teased us kids about it when we were headed out to the porch watermelon. We weren’t allowed to eat watermelon in the house, too messy.

After hearing the clip, it sounds more as if he’s poking fun at himself than anything.

If you want unvarnished, dishonest pandering, recall Hillary Clinton’s recital of a black woman’s diary in the southern church last campaign: “I’m not in no ways tired...”

I agree with you DPMD. I think he’s trying to make fun of himself - maybe because his “people” are telling him that the voters think he’s detached or that we think he thinks he’s better than us.

I just think he’s trying hard to show people he can interact with them when he’s never really had to.

That is beautiful. I’ve not visited Arkansas but we have kicked around the idea, the mister would like to mine for gems. That lake makes Arkansas even more enticing...

The mister is from Ca and he loves to panning, too. He showed me how and I really enjoyed it. I did get distracted with collecting pretty rocks, I don’t think he appreciated that much. But they were sooooo pretty!
