TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum hoped to lock down a victory in Kansas' GOP caucuses with two rallies Friday but faced grumbling from tea party activists for skipping their big rally in the state's largest city.................
Some tea party members were frustrated that Santorum wouldn't attend their rally. They spent $25,000 to rent the Century II arena in downtown Topeka and expected 1,000 to 3,000 people to attend.
"It seems like it is counterproductive to show up for an event that is going to have 300 people in an airplane hangar instead (of) 3,000 people in a nice setting where you can actually contact and really maybe sway somebody," said Craig Gabel, the president of Kansas For Liberty, which organized the Wichita event.
Gabel said Santorum skipping the gathering was a sign of tension between tea party members and Kansas GOP officials. He suggested the GOP had discouraged Santorum from attending. Santorum state coordinator Greg Cromer said it was a scheduling issue, and that tea party leaders were informed early..........................

I have no doubt that if Newt were to drop out, Santorum would shortly thereafter fold his tent and joining forces with Romney as the presumptive VP candidate.

It’s really out in the open.
2010 was the GOP-e worst nightmare. They are determined not to let anymore up-starts into their club — not knowing their place and mouthing off about rolling back the size of government.
Newt scares the hell out of them.
This is going all the way to Tampa and we’ll have it out there.

Uh.... Cs Wife didnt trash anyone. She only posted the article. ...........Take a breather. It is a pattern, do you really think this post was to uplift Santorum? There is a small group of trash talkers here, and she joins them regularly.
I just don't see that trashing either Newt or Rick as a good thing.
At least we don't have to talk about every MSM including Foux news, is repeating 0's claim that his energy plan favors all of the above without one talking head noting all the things he has done to prevent that very thing. Who cares about that when we have some insult to post about Little Ricky the Saint?

He has been saying all the right things, and has shown the aggressiveness needed to win.]
He does talk a lot and knows what you want to hear......And as far as the “aggressiveness to win”? Would you mean that his failure to properly plan and organize his entire campaign, or get on the ballot, or qualify for legal delegates, are included in your criteria for “aggressiveness to win?

Romney has amassed more delegates than the others combined. Santorum is third behind Newt in pledge delegates. He couldn't turn his double-digit polling margins into wins in Michigan or Ohio. Is Santorum really the frontrunner?
Who's to blame for Santorum's failures? Oh right, it's Newt's fault or Romney dirty tricks. In 2006, it was Bush's fault.
Besides being a lawyer-politician, his personality's like Obama's in so many ways: the petulance, moralizing, lecturing, anger, the mocking tone, gross exaggeration of his role, excessive credit taking and, of course, nothing's his fault.

IMO, the establishment is scared to death of this thing going to the convention. They (working with Romney) have tried to control the primary process. If it goes to the convention I think they actually lose more of the capability to effect the result. If it looks to them that they won't be able to drag Romney across the finish line they will shift their effort from controlling the process to controlling the person. Watch as the establishment begins to undermine Romney and shift to Santorum. The is the ultimate Washington beltway, insider team player who fiscal positons really are undistinguishable from Romney.

Santorum’s actual hard delegate count, is due to his gross failure to plan his campaign or do the necessary groundwork to qualify for those delegates. (And he has 4 more states ahead that he failed to get on the ballot in.)
And some actually think he could handle the Presidency??!!

That's right Friend! We need to get this thing to a Brokered Convention. The Establishment is petrified of what we will do if that happens. Believe it!

I think we made everybody Santorum go wobbly with this awesome article!!
Sir Lancelot can’t seem to dilodge spear from swollen foot.
Another 24 hours of this slapstick and it will be SNL comedy!
Can this get on breaking news or frontpage FR?
And, to the Newt campaign? Just hilarious!

Candidates sometimes choose the smaller venue because it is easier to provide security there.
Rick Santorum has received threats against him and his family.
Maybe he is just playing it safe.

Paul was the only presidential candidate participating in the tea party event. I'd be wobbly but I read it. I guess Paul is the only candidate in the race who isn't a RINO.
