The Lame Stream Media circle like sharks in a blood pool over Rick Santorums Catholicism. Funny, they asked conservatives if they were against Romney because they are anti-Mormon but no one is asking those attacking Santorum if they are doing it because they are anti-Catholic. Do we want a POTUS candidate who doesnt believe his own faith? We already have that, dont we?
Rick Santorum is laughing all the way to the ballot box as women swoon, and it isnt over his good looks. Women like Rick for a lot of reasons. He is every womans husband. He is every girls dad, complete with the sweater vest. He is every businesswomans handy banker. He is every school girls slightly geeky, but deliciously smart favorite math teacher. He is the Sunday School teacher we wish we hadthe one who actually fights for his faith rather than cowering for church attendance and tithes. He has courage.
Women feel the financial strain created by this administrations $1 trillion per year spending habit more than our sexier counterparts. We are the ones who have to abandon our choices and go to work. We have to clip coupons, stretch dollars, walk the tightrope between what our kids want and what our struggling budget allows, and we know we couldnt do it without our spiritual strength. The press contention that the social issues dont matter smack of government constrained churches to us, and we wont have it. Women need the freedom to worship where they want, how they want, and they dont want this government threatening their spiritual freedoms. Women understand what Sarah Palin said when she proclaimed that social issues and economic issues are not mutually exclusive-- They are inextricably linked, and women know that because we use the spiritual strengths guaranteed to us by social issues to survive the fiscal stresses every day under this imperial Presidents reign.
There is more to Ricks support by Middle American Moms than meets the eye. In the states where he has campaigned and delivered a message, women are feeling emboldened to support this hubby-daddy-slightly geeky teacher-type; they know things the media and GOP establishment wish they could dust away.
Moms like him. Rick and Karen have 7 living children. Karen is an attorney, nurse, and author. Rick knows firsthand what it means to run the carpool, pick up the kids from soccer, help with homework, and drop them at a friends house, all while trying to get to work on time or spiff up the house before dinner with the family.
Businesswomen like him. Santorum sponsored and passed the Womens Business Centers Sustainability Act that established numerous initiatives to support small businesses owned by women.
Work at home moms like him. He has been outspoken and boldly spoken up for women to have the choices they deserveto work outside the home, or not. He even placed the blame for taking away these freedoms where real women know it belongson the radical feminists.
Poor women like him. When he decided to take on the colossal battle of welfare reform, he invited 8 women on welfare to co-create the legislation with him. Who does that? This shows such cool creativity and cutting edge leadership, it would give a sweater vest some swag!
Pro-life women like him. He is an unquestionable champion of life. This means that unborn women probably like him, too. They just wont be able to say so until about 2013.
Pro-choice women like him. He is the only candidate who has declared that he would not criminalize birth control, unless killing babies is your method of choice.
Libertarian women like him. The Cato Institute had rave reviews for the Senator while he was serving in D.C.
Victimized women like him. Unlike Obama, he doesnt label them victims (AKA: Useful idiots). He empowers crime victims with his tough law for trafficking victims (Trafficking Victims Protection Conference Report) and Aimees Law. He co-sponsored the National AMBER Alert Network Act to strengthen alert capabilities and assist state and local law enforcement in catching those who would kidnap a child.
Academic women like him. His mother was the first woman to graduate from Yale. She was the primary breadwinner for his family growing up. His wife, Karen, is a lawyer, nurse, and author. He understands the importance of education and more importantly, the personal satisfaction that comes from women meeting their full potential. His life is living proof of that.
Moms of special ability children like him. As a mother of a child with a Trisomy 21, I can assure you that this hidden, but adamant voting block will move heaven and earth to get to the polls to support someone who loves and understands all the extra joy and challenge in raising a special child. His love for his baby, Gabriel who died, and later for his precious little Bella with Trisomy 18, is all most moms like me need to know the man has a heart the size of Texas, and he wears it on his sleeve for our special little ones.
Mr. Moms even like him! He championed initiatives to encourage participation of fathers in the lives of their children, and provide families with relief from the marriage penalty tax.
While esoteric, overeducated liberals stand in awe as Senator Santorum survives the ravages of the socialist attacks, we Middle American Women quietly smile to ourselves. We know where our vote will be in 2012.

Rick is the most moral presidential candidate we have, and most people can see that. Too bad some can’t.
He is running a solid 4th in a three man race, quite an accomplishment don't you think? Who else could do that?
RE: Santorum is the one helping mitt, its design that way. He didnt get the job done for Mitt in 08 at deceiving voters - so hes getting another chance at it a different way.
And where’s your evidence for that? If he wants to help Mitt, he would have gotten out of the way now and made it easier for Mitt to cruise instead of losing so many states.
“On abortion, he is one of many senators who vote pro-life. The difference is that he is personally responsible for making sure a lot of these votes occur in the first place: He was an architect of the effort to ban partial-birth abortion, a strategy that energized the pro-life movement and allowed it to go on the political offensive.”

Rick Santorum gets things done, because he is a FIGHTER!
The moms of America salute you. Are you off your meds?
Good thing Newt has never lied then. </sarcasm>
I just heard it, too. And she said that the economy is important but there’s something more.
That’s why the anti-Santorums’ mission is to keep calling Rick a liar. They’re wasting their energy on trying to convince the Santorum supporters that Rick is a hypocrite, and they get furious when they realize we “Santorumites” aren’t buying. We recognize that “something more” in a candidate when we see it.
You are clearly delusional. He should point out to his wife where she should stand. He should tell his kids where to stand too. These things are on TV and appearances are important. His wife clearly loves him and respects him. His children do too.
Don't you get tired of constantly lying about Santorum? Don't you have anything useful to do?
Or maybe you are just jealous because Santorum has a loving and caring family and you just hate to see see other people happy when you are so miserable.
Or maybe you are jealous because the author says women like Santorum and you have failed so often with the ladies.
Oh, please! How so, by not knowing by what he's doing? He knows he has way way way way way way less knowledge that NEWT does. If he honored it, he would drop out. But for Rick, it's ALL about him.
You are enthralled by an 'image' - the way it was designed as he doesn't have a record to lead this country. So he LIES about Newt would does.
A sucker is born every minute so 59 cousins are no biggie but expected.
You seem to have no trouble lying, so I guess that makes you immoral.
Get a life, instead of trying to kill of Santorum, work on Obama a little or maybe Romney, the only guy who benefits from your constant screeds.
Obviously you didn’t read my post, because I was saying this insulting article plays in to the notion that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. BTW, I am a “mom in America.”
Tell me, do you really find this article uplifting? It’s idiotic pablum! What conservative woman with a brain in her head would actually DREAM about a politician? Okay, he loves his wife and kids. So does Obama!
How do you know what he thinks? It's more that you are projecting!
He, having to deal with what's around him on the stage and in DC - HE IS. It's not easy being around liars and do nothings without an original thought where everything is for 'themselves' and not AMERICA.
Mark Levin also supported Romney against McCain. Disagree with Santorum all you want, but here you’re perpetuating something false.
I don’t vote with my privates, but I am a woman. I think it’s insulting to always categorize the female sex as having to picture their candidate as Dad, Husband, or Teacher.
With that said, after the Cainplosion, I looked with my BRAINS at the remaining candidates. Yes, I did stand up and cheer or laugh out loud in joy at Newt slamming the media shmucks at the debates. But with my pschology background I had successfully figured Newt out years ago, and he was still Newt. I considered him STRONGLY, then discarded him due to my deepest belief that very needy individuals seeking fame and fortune through the Presidency HURT US AND BADLY (see Clinton, Obama). Newt is on the right, but he is deeply insecure which colors his behavior. It doesn’t negate his speaking ability or vision, it just sometimes overrides them.
I didn’t care for Romney and Bachmann was fading. So I decided to start looking at Santorum. He had what Palin had, that I’ve been saying for a few years that I wanted in a President: the stones to be a bold conservative, and to unabashedly explain and support the Constitution and conservative principles to the nation.
He also LIVED by his values. When you have a child with differences, you understand how precious each life is. It’s not only about abortion: life is about those who cannot represent themselves well. Grandpas with Alzheimers, adults with cerebral palsy, kids with Down Syndrome. Yes, unborn babies also. This is at the top of my religious beliefs (Judaism) where life is praised for its own, because of the speck of Gdliness in each.
His goals to get manufacturing back in the country are great. I do buy products made in the USA but there aren’t many. Most of our stuff comes from anywhere but. I’d like to see the country get back to having a safe middle class. The infrastructure of the family plays a part, as well as jobs without so many regulations and lawsuits. The more onus you put on employers, the more jobs go elsewhere (see California).
So I decided to support Santorum. It really was a decision out of thought. Yet thereafter, when I heard him speak about Bella, or when he said what he said about church and state, not church vs. state, and some of the other “gaffes,” I found that I believed them and was secretly glad he said them, even if maybe he should have waited until after the inauguration! :)
I am a proud Santorum supporter, the only babywearing Mama in the Whole Foods parking lot with a Rick bumpersticker — IN California. But it wasn’t because his fuzzy sweater vest reminded me of Dad.
yeah, i agree. see my #74.
Big deal - just because someone else did it? LOL!!
I don’t live my life that way. That’s why there are polls - the dumb need to know what others are doing.
Rick is a liar - live with it.
I don’t need to know the “whole story”. Adultery is adultery. Adultery with an intern is adultery with an intern. That’s systematic lying, no matter how much you Newties want to whitewash him.
If you were making the same arguments against Sarah, you would be toast, but you can be thankful that JimRob is endorsing Newt.
Your attacks are beginning to get rabid, and you do nothing but coarsen the discourse. I can find this kind of mindless attacks over on DU, do we really need them here?
Thank you! It angers me to no end that conservative women are seen as not able to actually support a candidate based on facts and issues. This beyond stupid article proves that we thinking women have a lot of work to do among our peers.
I’m a Newt supporter, but totally understand your reasons for voting Rick. I just don’t agree. :)
Thanks for the reminder. Just sent him more $$. This is really our last stand here, people.
Newt cannot get the votes, even though his supporters here are as verbally adept (and pretty darn mean) as he is.
This our only chance to have anyone more conservative than Mitt Romney in our White House! Donate to Rick. Skip a dinner out. A latte. it could change your life, or only the Supreme Court...
