The Lame Stream Media circle like sharks in a blood pool over Rick Santorum’s Catholicism. Funny, they asked conservatives if they were against Romney because they are “anti-Mormon” but no one is asking those attacking Santorum if they are doing it because they are “anti-Catholic.” Do we want a POTUS candidate who doesn’t believe his own faith? We already have that, don’t we?
Rick Santorum is laughing all the way to the ballot box as women swoon, and it isn’t over his good looks. Women like Rick for a lot of reasons. He is every woman’s husband. He is every girl’s dad, complete with the sweater vest. He is every businesswoman’s handy banker. He is every school girl’s slightly geeky, but deliciously smart favorite math teacher. He is the Sunday School teacher we wish we had—the one who actually fights for his faith rather than cowering for church attendance and tithes. He has courage.
Women feel the financial strain created by this administration’s $1 trillion per year spending habit more than our sexier counterparts. We are the ones who have to abandon our choices and go to work. We have to clip coupons, stretch dollars, walk the tightrope between what our kids want and what our struggling budget allows, and we know we couldn’t do it without our spiritual strength. The press’ contention that the social issues don’t matter smack of government constrained churches to us, and we won’t have it. Women need the freedom to worship where they want, how they want, and they don’t want this government threatening their spiritual freedoms. Women understand what Sarah Palin said when she proclaimed that social issues and economic issues are not mutually exclusive-- They are inextricably linked, and women know that because we use the spiritual strengths guaranteed to us by “social issues” to survive the fiscal stresses every day under this imperial President’s reign.
There is more to Rick’s support by Middle American Moms than meets the eye. In the states where he has campaigned and delivered a message, women are feeling emboldened to support this hubby-daddy-slightly geeky teacher-type; they know things the media and GOP establishment wish they could dust away.
Moms like him. Rick and Karen have 7 living children. Karen is an attorney, nurse, and author. Rick knows firsthand what it means to run the carpool, pick up the kids from soccer, help with homework, and drop them at a friends’ house, all while trying to get to work on time or spiff up the house before dinner with the family.
Businesswomen like him. Santorum sponsored and passed the Women’s Business Centers Sustainability Act that established numerous initiatives to support small businesses owned by women.
Work at home moms like him. He has been outspoken and boldly spoken up for women to have the choices they deserve—to work outside the home, or not. He even placed the blame for taking away these freedoms where real women know it belongs—on the radical feminists.
Poor women like him. When he decided to take on the colossal battle of welfare reform, he invited 8 women on welfare to co-create the legislation with him. Who does that? This shows such cool creativity and cutting edge leadership, it would give a sweater vest some swag!
Pro-life women like him. He is an unquestionable champion of life. This means that unborn women probably like him, too. They just won’t be able to say so until about 2013.
Pro-choice women like him. He is the only candidate who has declared that he would not criminalize birth control, unless killing babies is your “method of choice.”
Libertarian women like him. The Cato Institute had rave reviews for the Senator while he was serving in D.C.
Victimized women like him. Unlike Obama, he doesn’t label them victims (AKA: Useful idiots). He empowers crime victims with his tough law for trafficking victims (Trafficking Victims Protection Conference Report) and Aimee’s Law. He co-sponsored the National AMBER Alert Network Act to strengthen alert capabilities and assist state and local law enforcement in catching those who would kidnap a child.
Academic women like him. His mother was the first woman to graduate from Yale. She was the primary breadwinner for his family growing up. His wife, Karen, is a lawyer, nurse, and author. He understands the importance of education and more importantly, the personal satisfaction that comes from women meeting their full potential. His life is living proof of that.
Moms of special ability children like him. As a mother of a child with a Trisomy 21, I can assure you that this hidden, but adamant voting block will move heaven and earth to get to the polls to support someone who loves and understands all the extra joy and challenge in raising a special child. His love for his baby, Gabriel who died, and later for his precious little Bella with Trisomy 18, is all most moms like me need to know the man has a heart the size of Texas, and he wears it on his sleeve for our special little ones.
Mr. Moms even like him! He championed initiatives to encourage participation of fathers in the lives of their children, and provide families with relief from the marriage penalty tax.
While esoteric, overeducated liberals stand in awe as Senator Santorum survives the ravages of the socialist attacks, we Middle American Women quietly smile to ourselves. We know where our vote will be in 2012.

I have been around the block a few times, I have never found a lady that did not want a devoted husband and father for her children, and if he can fix thinks about the house he is a real keeper. It is just a fact of life.
RE: Anyone who votes for such trite reasons should have their 19th amendment rights revoked.
C’mon, that’s NOT the only reason. That’s one among MANY OTHER reasons (e.g. his fiscal, energy and tax policies) and the fact the women relate to it is to Rick’s advantage.
Its no worse than voting a straight DemocRAT party line ticket because you always have before, or because Hussein has such a mellifluous voice it makes you swoon, please.
After what this shill has done to the US, if you voted for Hussein in 2008 to prove you weren't a racist, vote against him in 2012 to prove your not a moron...

This is the MOST patronizing load of drivel I’ve read in weeks! Sorry, Dr. Gina, but as a middle American WOMAN who happens to be a mother, I find it highly insulting that you think I would base my vote on whether a candidate is the husband or Sunday School teacher of my dreams. The women I know care about national security, jobs, gas prices and yes, they are strongly pro-life. Articles like this reinforce the opinion that women are emotion-driven twits who can’t handle the responsibilty of voting.
I’d write more but the nausea is rising again.
What about Santorum's RECORD on his BIG GOV'T economy and campaigning and voting for the originator of Romneycare? Can you put 2 and 2 together? He ain't doing it.

I have not seen the kind of constant attacks on Newt here that I’ve seen on Rick. And, as I’ve said before, these constant attacks are not going to help Newt any. No doubt they suit some of Newt’s supporters, but they are only going to offend everyone else.
It helps only to bring in those who can be DECEIVED!

TITLE: WAS SANTORUM A SENATE SPENDTHRIFT?

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) has been rating members of Congress for 20 years. NTU is an independent, non-partisan organization that — per its mission statement — “mobilizes elected officials and the general public on behalf of tax relief and reform, lower and less wasteful spending, individual liberty, and free enterprise.” Steve Forbes serves on its board of directors.
For each session of Congress, NTU scores each member on an A-to-F scale. NTU weights members’ votes based on those votes’ perceived effect on both the immediate and future size of the federal budget. Those who get A’s are among “the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies”; they receive NTU’s “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” B’s are “good” scores, C’s are “minimally acceptable” scores, D’s are “poor” scores, and F’s earn their recipients membership in the “Big Spender” category. There is no grade inflation whatsoever, as we shall see.
NTU’s scoring paints a radically different picture of Santorum’s 12-year tenure in the Senate (1995 through 2006) than one would glean from the rhetoric of the Romney campaign. Fifty senators served throughout Santorum’s two terms: 25 Republicans, 24 Democrats, and 1 Republican/Independent. On a 4-point scale (awarding 4 for an A, 3.3 for a B+, 3 for a B, 2.7 for a B-, etc.), those 50 senators’ collective grade point average (GPA) across the 12 years was 1.69 — which amounts to a C-. Meanwhile, Santorum’s GPA was 3.66 — or an A-. Santorum’s GPA placed him in the top 10 percent of senators, as he ranked 5th out of 50.
Across the 12 years in question, only 6 of the 50 senators got A’s in more than half the years. Santorum was one of them. He was also one of only 7 senators who never got less than a B. (Jim Talent served only during Santorum’s final four years, but he always got less than a B, earning a B- every year and a GPA of 2.7.) Moreover, while much of the Republican party lost its fiscal footing after George W. Bush took office — although it would be erroneous to say that the Republicans were nearly as profligate as the Democrats — Santorum was the only senator who got A’s in every year of Bush’s first term. None of the other 49 senators could match Santorum’s 4.0 GPA over that span.
This much alone would paint an impressive portrait of fiscal conservatism on Santorum’s part. Yet it doesn’t even take into account a crucial point: Santorum was representing Pennsylvania.
Based on how each state voted in the three presidential elections over that period (1996, 2000, and 2004), nearly two-thirds of senators represented states that were to the right of Pennsylvania. In those three presidential elections, Pennsylvania was, on average, 3 points to the left of the nation as a whole. Pennsylvanians backed the Democratic presidential nominee each time, while the nation as a whole chose the Republican in two out of three contests.
Among the roughly one-third of senators (18 out of 50) who represented states that — based on this measure — were at least as far to the left as Pennsylvania, Santorum was the most fiscally conservative. Even more telling was the canyon between him and the rest. After Santorum’s overall 3.66 GPA, the runner-up GPA among this group was 2.07, registered by Olympia Snowe (R., Maine). Arlen Specter, Santorum’s fellow Pennsylvania Republican, was next, with a GPA of 1.98. The average GPA among senators who represented states at least as far left as Pennsylvania was 0.52 — or barely a D-.
But Santorum also crushed the senators in the other states. Those 32 senators, representing states that on average were 16 points to the right of Pennsylvania in the presidential elections, had an average GPA of 2.35 — a C+.
In fact, considering the state he was representing, one could certainly make the case that Santorum was the most fiscally conservative senator during his tenure. The only four senators whose GPAs beat Santorum’s represented states that were 2 points (Republican Judd Gregg of New Hampshire), 10 points (Republican Jon Kyl of Arizona), 25 points (Republican James Inhofe of Oklahoma), and 36 points (Republican Craig Thomas of Wyoming) to the right of Pennsylvania in the presidential elections. Moreover, of these four, only Kyl (with a GPA of 3.94) beat Santorum by as much as a tenth of a point. It’s an open question whether a 3.94 from Arizona is more impressive than a 3.66 from Pennsylvania.
So, if Santorum was among — and perhaps even topped the list of — the most fiscally conservative senators during this period, who were the least fiscally conservative? That prize would have to go to the two North Dakota senators, who despite representing a state that voted 23 points to the right of the national average in the presidential elections, managed to achieve GPAs of 0.08 (Democrat Kent Conrad) and 0.00 (Democrat Byron Dorgan). Honorable mentions would have to go to Max Baucus (D., Mont.), who got a 0.84 GPA in a state that was 18 points to the right of the national average; Harry Reid (D., Nev.), who got a 0.08 GPA in a state that was 4 points to the right of average; and Utah Republicans Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch, who each barely cleared a 3.0 (3.11 for Bennett, 3.08 for Hatch) despite representing the state that, in the presidential elections, , was the nation’s most right-leaning (38 points to the right of average).
Every politician has to appeal to the women’s vote. Newt’s doing it now in his national ads where a woman is in a mock interview and you hear a baby cry, and they say something like even mom’s like Newt. Newt realizes he has to get his high negatives down, and he ain’t stupid.

Those two (rick/mitt career politicians) have an ego it would be hard to live with.
Newt, however, one could sit and chat with about anything. The other two, Rick/Mitt, the conversation would be all about them!
Could be that, in their own life, these women chose the wrong man, also, and still are doing it. Looking at what he says (wooo! sounds good!) and not what he does (his record).
