Well, I was sworn to secrecy, so I’ll keep details to a minimum here. I do know of certain members of a military honor guard, and some watch standers that resorted to Queen sized panty hose (”Winteralls”) in order to insulate themselves from bitter cold while on duty. Yes. Swear ta’ gawd this predated the advent of modern thermal undwear design...but some seemed to enjoy it waaaay too much.

They would also wear them in the Panamanian jungles to keep the leaches off of them when they waded through the water.

Panty hose were good at keeping the ticks and chiggers from attaching while on maneuvers.
