You do realize Santorum is still the nearest thing to "generic Republican" right? He's the least known, least vetted of any of the candidates.

Look at the lower turn out. The "front runners," Santorum and Romney, are not inspiring primary voters to get to the polls. This portends doom in November.

A Santorum nominee would be destroyed. Look closely at his election history in PA, at how and why he lost by 18 points. It was a larger margin than any incumbent senator in over 25 years. The voters who knew him best--for 12 years--wanted him gone. Democrats know how to destroy him at the ballot box even with the power of incumbency in his corner. He lost 61% of women and even when reelected couldn't win the women's vote. Instead he mirrored W's in 2000 by polling highly with men and in 1994, well, he road Newt's Republican Revolution into the senate.

Since they're both establishment guys, I wonder how Santorum supporters would take a Romney/Santorum ticket.

I’m actually IN Pa, and there was a lot more incumbency backlash in that 18 point loss. PA NOW has a Republican Governor, House and State Senate. The “T” is growing larger...Santorum CAN take on Obama—two issues RS has been solid on—pro life (Obama was/is to the LEFT of NARAL) and the mid east (RS was warning of Jihadists before 9/11). He can take on BuhRock

“The voters who knew him best—for 12 years—wanted him gone. “

Not so much. He caught a lot of flack for the wars, for his association with Bush and ran against a name candidate. I don’t hold that against him. He leads polling in PA against Zero. That is all that matters there.

I could take any of ‘em - except RINOmney.

That’s what scares me about Santorum winning. He seems weak and we don’t need weak against Obama.

But, that’s just me. He seems like a sissy man who won’t get out of his Mr. Rogers sweaters.

But I was for Rick Perry, a real man and I’m for Newt.
