This reminds me of a NASCAR race, like the leaders are busy fighting for first, ruining each others momentum by fighting for the lead, banging into each other etc.

While the smart dude in the strong car, stays close behind, then runs to the front while the leaders are still banging into each other and spinning off the track. That's when the old veteran who hung back makes his move off of their draft, and wins......
