If Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to seal President Obamas fate, all he has to do is to attack Iran. It is clear from Obamas AIPAC speech that the president will continue to talk about diplomacy and sanctions for the remainder of his term and will take no military action against Iran. If Israel attacks Iran, she will achieve three things:
a. Israel will buy time by delaying the Iranian nuclear program by one to three years.
b. Those extra years will give the effective sanctions, only now being imposed, time to work.
c. The resulting increase in the price of oil and its impact on the American economy will doom Obamas re-election chances, assuring that a pro-Israeli Republican Administration takes power.
With a Republican in the White House and in control of Congress, Israel will be well positioned to derail permanently the Iranian nuclear program.
Obama could never recover from the run-up of oil prices that would follow an Israeli attack. His refusal to approve the Keystone Pipeline, to drill in the ANWR reserve, and to issue permits for deep sea drilling, all make him ultra-vulnerable on the gas price issue. He has no good answers on the subject.
A huge increase in gas prices at the pump will also send the world into the same kind of oil shock as happened in 1973 and 1979, each of which was followed by a global recession in reaction. Obama would not be able to be re-elected amid the tidal wave of bad economic news he would face.
How ironic that Netanyahu, therefore, really controls Obamas fate. He cant re-elect his sworn enemy (I doubt anyone can do that) but he can defeat him and likely will do so.
Netanyahu has to face the fundamental fact that Israel cannot survive another four years of an Obama presidency. Freed of the constraints that the need to get re-elected imposes, the presidents anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian bias will come out in virulent form with likely lethal implications for Israel. If Bibi lets Obama get re-elected, he will be dooming the Jewish State to extinction.
All the evidence indicates that he understands his choices and will respond accordingly. At least we hope so.
He will blame Netanyahu....and the press will go along..
That's OK....but never, ever underestimate the power of standing all alone at the gas pump filling your pickemup truck, even with it's "SEIU - Live and work union!" decals.
With nobody whispering in his ear, even the most hardcore goon is gonna have a fiscal awakening.
Bibi has already made up his mind.
Israel will attack before summer.
Watching him talk last night at AIPAC, you could sense that he puts his Country and countrymen FIRST, and will do whatever is in their best interests.
His statement about an ICBM heading your way "filled with nuclear medical items" was a knee-slapper, but actually made fun of those who have been pushing wimp-ass Diplomacy-with-Terrorists and Sanctions that do nothing to slow the progress of Iran.
I thought he basically was saying "thanks, but no thanks", we will fend for ourselves.
Bibi, you'll rank right up there with Reagan if you do this.
Israel will attack before summer."
I sensed he was growing impatient, too, and I would love it if they did it before November, but they will strike sooner, rather than later, I'm sure.
Do it Bibi!
We must pray that Morris is right and Israel attracts Iran before the election as I know that most Americans will accept years of gas prices $7.50 a gallon and a further economic depression if it means we replace Obama with the GOP nominee.
Let them refine algae...
Dick Morris is correct less than an unturned, daily calendar.
Bibi is going to do what he knows in his heart is right.
If it takes down the Israel-hating fraudster in the bargain, he’ll consider it a bonus.
I didn’t read the article, but did Bibi say Israel was going to launch an ICBM on the WhiteHut!? Wow!
He said that Iran has maintained that their need for nuclear material was to create "medical equipment" or some such crap, and Bibi said that when an ICBM is headed your way, don't worry, it's just medical equipment in the warhead, or words to that effect (sarcasm at its finest).
When you watch a true Leader talk, compared to a teleprompter-reading-phony, you really miss having a U.S. President that doesn't kiss the asses of 3rd world dictators, or Muslim terrorists, for that matter.
Morris makes sense on this. I am sure the Israeli PM would love to see obamma go down in defeat!
The "effective" sanctions are a little more stringent than the previous ones, but they will not be enough. The question is whether Israel will launch a preemptive conventional attack now or a retaliatory nuclear attack in one or two years. Personally, I prefer the option that costs fewer innocent lives ... and I pray that Israel will not allow Obama to stop them.
While I agree that Zero would blame Netanyahu for higher prices at the pump, I don’t think that argument will carry the day with the voting public (nor should it, but that’s another matter).
Not to shock anyone, but...but...while of course it is foolish to generalize...I’m starting, again, please note, just starting, to suspect that, at the individual level, the Voting Public, again, as individuals, sometimes, just sometimes, fails to apply in-depth, rigorous, logic-based analysis in their decision-making process.</way out on a limb here>
I’m probably wrong about this.</s>
BINGO
So true. I was just kidding btw.
