WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama said Sunday the United States will not hesitate to attack Iran with military force to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon, but he cautioned that "too much loose talk of war" recently has only helped Tehran and driven up the price of oil.
Speaking to a powerful pro-Israel lobby, Obama appealed to Israel for more time to let sanctions further isolate Iran. He sought to halt a drumbeat to war with Iran and hold off a unilateral Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.
"For the sake of Israel's security, America's security and the peace and security of the world, now is not the time for bluster," Obama told thousands at the annual American-Israel Public Affairs Committee's policy conference. "Now is the time to let our increased pressure sink in, and to sustain the broad international coalition that we have built."
Quoting Theodore Roosevelt, Obama said he would "speak softly, but carry a big stick" — and warned Iran not to test U.S. resolve. Many analysts believe an Israeli attack would result in a region-wide conflict, including Iranian attacks on American troops in the Persian Gulf, and could damage the world economy by causing oil prices to skyrocket. It also remains unclear how much damage a military strike would do to Iran's nuclear program. Many of the country's nuclear facilities are buried deep underground.

There’s nothing loose about talk of war. An attack by Israel may very well start a full scale war in the region, with all the devestation and loss of life that would entail (as well as rupturing the world economy). But allowing Iran to acquire a working nuclear weapon capability will CERTAINLY bring about war. Israel simply cannot allow that to happen, and they WILL attack to prevent it. If there is to be any hope of peace in the region, the Iranians have got to be made to understand that.

The only ‘blustering’ going on is by Obama ..... and Iran knows it. Iranians will wake up one morning to find several huge smoking holes in the ground around the country .... with not a word blustered by Israel.
I honestly think Israel would be better off going it alone at least in the beginning.
This is going to require REAL WAR. While the US Military is certainly capable of fighting REAL WAR, our current Government is not and I am not sure the population is willing anymore..
They may have punched me afterward and thrown me out of the forum, but it would have been worth it.
