Vladimir Putin has declared victory in Russia's presidential elections, returning for a third term after spending the last four years as the country's PM. Exit polls and preliminary results gave him about 60% of the vote.
Mr Putin told supporters at a rally in central Moscow they had won in an open and honest battle.
But opposition groups have reported widespread fraud, with many people said to have voted more than once.

"I promised you we would win, and we won," he said, with tears in his eyes. "Glory to Russia!"
"We have won in an open and honest battle.
"We proved that no-one can force anything on us."

The key to running successfully against Vlad Putin is to make sure he’s dead on a slab before election day. Thanks Paleo Conservative.
If only that law was in place now. The GOP could nominate Clinton and beat Obama. I was never a huge fan of Bill’s, but I’d take him over the current guy.
Russia is a presidential republic in form.
President is an elected head of the state. His duty is to set vectors of both domestic and international policy, to enforce constitution, he is a supreme military commander. He is a strategic center.
Prime minister is an appointed official who has an administrative role and his job is to provide technical execution of presidential policy using ministers by branches. He is a tactical figure hired by president.
Legislation is a Federal Assembly. It has a Federative Counsil & State Duma. It is working pretty similiar to US Senate & House of Representatives and formed pretty same way.
Apart from form, Russia is an Oligarchy.
It means a state ruled by monopolist corporations who has de-facto privatized government organs as non-market tools of competition.
In 90’s it was run by Soros while Yeltsin was drank without any rule of law.
Under Putin, government improved it’s position turning into a player, not only a tool. Soros and his associates were kicked out of the country or imprisoned.
It doesn’t mean the system has changed too much and won’t eat Putin in case it needs.
The reality is most players enjoying his regime and it is really better than Yeltsin’s ‘democracy’. More government control is bad but it is better than government which is not even trying to control and is absent at all or only acting as an agressive paid agent of your competitors.
There are at least some rules now. An idea of tight control of Russian life by some sort of dictatorship is bullcrap.
Western people look for Russians too naïve about democracy. We feel hundreds years older than you experienced in last 100 years themselves or our relatives, ancestors and acquainted all possible forms of rule known to humankind at different levels of society. Democracy is sort of spherical horse in a vacuum, an abstraction possible only in theory. In 1930-th everybody had possibility to report to highest authority about somebodys misconduct and this person you have dislike to would disappear in GULG with quite high probability. Almost everybodys wish of such nature was implemented by authorities. I wonder if there existed greater democracy anywhere in history of humankind. In the West these years were named totalitarian
I wonder how much people in US would be left alive if all wishes of all citizens would actualize.
Elective technologies were introduced in Russia during Yeltsyn rule by his American advisers. Such foreign sounding subjects were very quickly recognized as well known swindlers trick named lokhotron, entertainment for morons when they will end barea$$ed. So all those so named elections fall under this definition , lokhotron.
Anyway, Putin is not worse thing that can occur
I agree at this
He is a dictator, but at least he’s a predictable and stable dictator.
Uh....no : )
In other news,
Pope still Catholic.
Bear defecates in the woods.
” i feel almost as bad for the Russlanders as i do us with 0bama... “
I think Putin is at least somewhat patriotic, whereas Obama despises America, and is hell bent on destroying it.I’ll wager Putin despises Obama: )
Someday the USA MSM media are going to push what they say is a novel idea, and that they will claim is for our benefit.
It will be a Constitutional Amendment, just like they did in NYC with Mayor Bloomberg, and attempt to convince Americans that we need to have the ability to have our Presidents for life.
We can’t ever let it happen but they will organize and push it for one of their favorite sons. Be aware and be vigilant.
Well actually out of the three Putin still is the best bet. The other two are even more hard core than Putin.
BTW Putin simply keeps his most formidable enemies close.
The same has been said of here..and for that matter most elections world wide. It's just some are better at gaming it than others.
Obama's jealous of Putin I'm sure.
Putin is an interesting character to watch. His personal rise and agenda has played out exactly as he hoped...and is playing out now. But make no mistake Putin will turn on anyone who gets in his way of retaining his power...which is what drives him far more than any patriotism he may have. That's what Czar's do and are....
Additionally... in his quest for power he has indeed put Russia back on the map and recognized and respected Internationally. And no denying no matter how the elections were set...the people on a whole love the man for what he's done to bring Russia back up from it's fall. ..and he did so by assuming control of the oil, gas and other resources...as well as control of media and the banks.
Unfortunately you step outside of their major cities and you go back in time. Deplorable conditions for many. Rather like what Obam is doing to our country.
Putin has played his hand brilliantly to get where he is....but then he simply takes out those who stand in his way as well. But politically in orchestrating his rise to power, and those with him and now maintaining it......he did this amazingly well in how he especially made himself palatable to the people.
Bottom line though...never underestimate him...he's dangerous!
When dictators rig elections, dont they usually “adjust” the results to show them winning by 90 % or more ? just sayin...
