Santorum should have taken the honorable course that Pawlenty, Bachman, Cain, and Perry did and withdrawn after Gingrich romp in winning SC. His presence is causing a split in the conservative vote and Romney is shooting through the breach. Had Santorum dropped out, Gingrich would have won in MI and the Romney candidacy would have been up in flames. Santorum is now playing the role of “spoiler” and so we get Romney. Romney needs Santorum’s role as spoiler. Romney knows this. The $64,000 question is why doesn’t Santorum and his supporters know about it?

>> His presence is causing a split in the conservative vote

The essence of his campaign is that of indignation, and it’s not going to take us to the Presidency.

Why should Rick have dropped out? He is the one people are voting for, rather than NEWT or Romney. He’s correct that Newt dropping out would help him (Rick) get more votes.

I cannot say that I would have voted for Newt over Romney in Michigan unless Newt had mentioned a definite running mate like Alan West. I still see Newt as a Republican turn coat.
