Consider also that Rush has now innoculated the GOP candidates on this by taking the lightning rod hit (imo quite purposefully).

The MSM, instead of being able to pursue this absurdity, now can only ask the candidates about Rush's statements; and the candidates can only thusly appear reasonable, and use the fracas as a pivot point to "let's talk about what's really important...ie jobs and this horrid economy."

Good point and hopefully the GOP candidates are smart enough to take your advice...at least Newt would be.

While it could work to the benefit of our candidates, I don’t think Rush had this in mind when he overshot the runway with his commentary though.
