One of my biggest peeves is that a fairly large portion of the electorate in any election seem to think that their purpose in going to the polls is to pick who they think that the winner will be.

I’m sure that some people like this are of great value to society in their own little world, since politics isn’t all there is to life. But, sometimes, I wonder. I think that their primary function is to ride in the wagon and complain when it breaks.

That's why the pundits sit around and declare who is and isn't "electable". Personally I think its a stupid thing to say in a nation with Obama as president.
