Kabul, Afghanistan Five American service members and an Afghan-American linguist were directly involved in the burning of Korans at a NATO base, an event a week ago that plunged Afghanistan into days of violent protests, according to the preliminary conclusions of a joint military investigation. All six will be referred to the proper U.S. authorities for further action, said an official familiar with the joint Afghan-American investigation into the Koran burnings, who was not authorized to speak about it publicly. Significantly, the five service members found responsible so far include military

Soldiers Are Said to Face Punishment in Koran Burnings
Five American service members and an Afghan-American linguist may face disciplinary action in the burning of Korans at a NATO base, an event a week ago that plunged Afghanistan into days of violent protests, according to the preliminary conclusions of a joint military investigation...
AGREED
This is a line in the sand
As per usual, the Times is front-running for the White Hut. Makes me physically ill. If our soldiers weren’t such fine human beings doing their duty, I would encourage a massive walk out on even the THOUGHT of any disciplinary action. I’m ready to raise HELL if tptb even think about charging them. Korans will burn nationwide in protest, for starters.
Punishment as defined by what provision of the UCMJ? Or has that been supplanted by sharia law?
“Id be banned for everything I want to say.”
So would I...
We should get out of Afghanistan, taking with us all of our troops and resources. We should also terminate all military and other assistance to that country.
Afghanistan will fall to the Taliban as soon as we leave and anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows it. We supported a corrupt government in ‘Nam, who couldn’t defeat the communists.
And we’re supporting a corrupt government now, in Afghanistan. The results will be the same. It’s time to leave.
Could we PLEASE stop acting like this was a CRIME. We are not under SHARIA LAW!!! They burned books, probably on orders.
Say “Don’t do that anymore” and get over with it. They killed our troops. Where is our government’s outrage over that!!!!
Just bomb the whole dam country and leave them to sweep up their rubble. Then tell them we will re-arrange the rubble if we ever have a problem with them again.
A little Islamic incrementalism, no more nighttime raids or following insurgents into private housing have been added to the long time turnover of all prisons demand. Notice there is no indication we won’t had over the servicemen identified. Like I said, time to remove this administration. Now.
